Also has anyone played Mt Osmond? Whats the course like and do they have good practice facilities etc. Might be moving house shortly and this could be the closest course to me... I want to get a membership once I know where I will be living.

Good course but heavy soil over shale that gets very wet during winter if rainfall is high. Only played there many years ago so I don't remember what practice facilities there are. Other than that very good facilities.

Only played 2 courses in SA - Clare and Tanunda. Clare was ok for a small country town, and the couple of holes up the hill then the par 3 back down were pretty interesting.

I enjoyed Tanunda - I read somewhere that they have held tournaments there?

Tanunda is nice. I heard that also, not sure what tourneys they have held tho.

Yet to play Clare but I have seen the course and it gets good raps from a few mates of mine..

I played Grange East probably 10 years ago but have never played the West course and now with the changes I think the east is different now too. Only heard good things about Grange.

Also never played Flaggy or TTG which have good reviews from those who have played them

Courses I would like to play are

    1. Royal Adelaide
    2. Grange West
    3. Kooyonga
    4. TTG
    5. Grange East
    6. Flaggy
    7. Mount Compass
    8. The Vines
    9. Mount Osmond

So many courses in SA still to get to..

Some of my fav's that ive played are

    1. Lady Bay
    2. Willunga
    3. Glenelg
    4. Pat South

    Good reviews so far guys..

Played Tanunda a few years back, its a good track. They played a Von Nida tour event there a few years back.

Both Grange courses I rate highly, although I have not played the West since it has been changed

Royal Adelaide would have to be my favorite, love the place

Being a member at Tea Tree Gully I have played that hundreds of times, its a good course, and considering the traffic its always in good condition.

    Flagstaff Hill is good,

On my list to play are - Kooyonga, Glenelg, Lady Bay

My mate had just taken over as the Pro at Renmark GC, so I will be playing that shortly too

I live just up the road from TTG, would like to have joined, but consider it out of my price range.

Played Kooyonga at an Ambrose day 2 years ago and it is a pretty sweet course..... was a very windy day so plenty of balls lost tht day lol, plus the drinks girls were nice though lol

I wasnt a huge fan of Flagstaff hill, didnt like these fairways that slope off from right to left etc. u hit a beautiful drive, and get to ur ball to find it has rolled sideways off the fairway and into the rough or worse.... Dunno if this has been fixed at all...

Love that par 3 140m hole over the damn though.... one of the best par 3's I have played anywhere...

Played Edithburgh sometime back, and whilst it isnt much of a course it is a true test of golf though.... the weather can be sooo severe down there that it can make play extremely difficuly. Another highlight is the 2 holes over the road from the rest of the course that are along the coast.... awesome views but extremely exposed lol. The par 3 over the water/cliffs is a gorgeous hole... ill post some pics up from my Edithburgh trip

I live at Greenwith so its only down the road. I've gone back to social membership until I have the time to play every weekend.

If you want a round there let me know, I might even be able to organise the next Ozgolf day there

TTG has a few fairways that punish a good shot, the first you have to hit it in the right rough and hope it finds it way down to the fairway. The 10th is on a small ridge as well so most tee shots run off a little

It has gotten a little pricey due to member numbers dropping, I think this years subs were around $1700

Flaggy is OK, I played it on a corportate ambrose day and a guy holed out on that par 3

Nuriootpa is a good track, I really enjoyed it up there

    Hi everyone,

Thanks Deano for putting up our link in here.

We are Matt and Tony and we have created www.sagolfadventure.com so that we can share our experiences of the courses in South Australia with everyone else. We are aiming to play every course in the state in the next couple of years.

So check out the site and become a member so you can take part in the journey and discussions in our forums.

Hope to hear from you all soon.

Also, Id have to agree with some other comments too about Lady Bay, i loved the course. So much so in fact that my wife and i have bought some land down there and are currently building a house. I cant wait to get down there.

Never played there mate, bit of a drive from Adelaide. Would be interested to play there if the chance arose. How would you describe it?

    Hey Fellas,

I'm a member at Riverside GC.
Have recently played Royal Adel for our work golf day. Was a very windy day which made it bloody tuff.
This years corporate day is at Kooyanga, so looking forward to that.
Have played the likes of the Pat, Lady Bay, McCracken, Mt Compass, Nth Adel.

    Welcome Toddy,

I was a junior member at Riverside many moons ago. How's the place looking these days? I thought it was a really nice course when I was there.

Royal Adelaide would be a treat.. You should come to the next SA Ozgolf day. 6 of us played a meet and greet game on Sunday so it would be good to see more of us out there.

Post a thread in the Welcome Forum and tell us a bit about yourself, or just do it here..

    Hey all,

Being originally from Adelaide I have played many of these courses. There is no doubt Royal Adelaide, Kooyonga and Grange are special courses but can be difficult to get on to.

Glenelg is shooting up the "best courses in Oz" charts and is looking very sweet at the moment.

Lady Bay is potentially the most underrated course in Australia IMO. Classic links layout. I've only played it a couple of times but it was a completely different course each time.

And back to your original question....Mt.Osmond. It's a funny little course tucked into a small area on top of the hills. I find it's a little too quirky for me. Too many shots where you have to play to a point and make sure it doesn't roll away. I never thought I could let loose out there.

And great to hear some Tea Tree Gully conversation!!! Grew up there as a junior, with my name on the Hole in One board along with my grandfather. Love to get back for a round one day.

I played the governors cup there a couple of years ago when they were in the middle of renno's half the course was a nightmare would love to give it a crack now .

They must have got a good deal on bunkers somewhere f**k they got a heap.

True Daggs. It was a little ordinary out the back a few years ago. I've been told it's brilliant at the minute.

Hi, I am a new member.

I am from SA and have just got back into playing golf after a work related 3 year break. Now that I have the time to play I have been playing more than ever. In the past month I have played the following:

North Adelaide South Course - Pretty straight forward course with a few nice holes on it, I like the Par 3 16th, its my favourite hole. It is always in reasonable nick considering the traffic.

Highercombe - Does anyone actually play up there from here? It is always so quiet. This is a hard course in my opinion because you can hit a nice tee shot and it can end up rolling onto the opposite hole! Frustrating at times and not very well watered. If someone spent some serious money on this course it would be a cracker. My favourite hole on this course is the short Par 4 15th. A thinking mans hole. Lay it up with an iron? Or blaze away from the hidden green?

Mt Lofty - I don't know what to think of this course. It is shorter than some but very technical. You have to have a bit of course knowledge I think. The 2nd hole you hit over a road!? I did like this course, but I never felt I could just let loose with the driver, I felt almost claustrophobic on some holes! So many trees. Nice course.

Mt Barker - Played this on a day with a disgusting amount of wind. I really like this course, it has a bit of everything. The front 9 is a lot longer than the back, but you are always thinking about your shots, its never just a case of smash it as close to the green like at Nth Adelaide. Probably my favourite course so far.

In the past I have played McCracken, Victor Harbour, Regency, Nth Haven and Bamera Golf Club. I look forward to playing some of the 'bigger' courses like Riverside, Lady Bay and McCracken again.

Thanks Flavzz...yeah Riverside is looking great at the moment...i can't really fault it at all....with the recently completed 'new' 4th hole.
Would definately love to come out to the next OZ Golf day for a round.
