Bumped into a fella at Robe a month or so ago who was a member at Mt Osmond. His only hassle was in winter the fog is so thick in the morning, you cant see your ball after hitting it. My G/f lives around Eagle on the Hill and with the time I spend up in Adelaide I thought the MT Osmond 6 Day week offer for $200 to country golf club members was a generous offer.

Are you able to explain this one a bit more? I'm a member of a country course, live in Adelaide and would love to play Mt Osmond. I can't find anything about this $200 thing on their website.

Hi guys recip. would be nice but nooo! but they do knock a bit off...
The nine thats there is coming up nice, fairways are very good and reasonably generous,
greens are great and somewhat trickier than first thought (for me anyway).
And rough has been planted and on the way. Still quite a bit of GUR.
As with all coastal links courses its all in the weather .

A few guys wernt far off hypothermia in june /july with a 30 knot wet southerly blowin .
Ask me you can have that shit.

I had a round there last week (first time on greens for 6 months ) can make gir fairly often but 4 friggin puts allover the place .
Havent gone of the black tees yet , will give it a go soon.

I recon i can wrangle some sort of a deal if a group wants to come up.
In fact if you give me an idea how many roughly ill get onto it and see what Westy (ops. manager/pro) ) will do for us.
Might as well have a black tee challenge and use all the course, carts or walk?

Cheers guys, would enjoy a catch up and to meet a few others Daggs

Have spoken to the guru there, can get every one on for $35 a round and carts at members price $27 a round (per cart) if in a group.

If you guys want to come up ive got mates with holliday houses all sorts, if you want to make a week end of it with the ladies, kids etc. Can organise fish charters (cheap) whatever you like( well allmost everything you may like )

And or you can stay my way ,(sorry not familys not that much room) no big deal, bring swag or bag alls cool your welcome .

    Hospitable members and a challenging course for me especially, tree lined fairways still rip my game apart. That said every time I play there my game improves a lot. If you get a chance to have a hit at Naracoorte have a crack. The details are below;

Located in the heart of the
LimestoneCoast in South Australia is this unique styled Golf Course, surrounded by natural bush lands, with views of the town. Our course is renowned for its lush watered fairways and greens, undulating course with bunkers.

Naracoorte is located a pleasant drive from Melbourne of approx 4 .5 hours, as you travel through to Adelaide via Horsham, and 3 hours from Adelaide
Drop into the Golf Club, and experience a sandbelt style course, but with all the hospitality of a Country Club. Be welcomed by the P.G.A Professional and his staff, or enjoy a drink at our club house.

Played at the Kingston SE Open on Saturday the 18th of december. The course is drying out a little as the weather warms up. The redesigned course is up and running and great fun to play. If you are in the region over the holiday period drop in and enjoy a round.

Looks like they've done some fairly major works since I was there last Talart. The new holes out the back were only just starting to become playable. Course looks good now. Will have to get back there for a game.

P.S Always an iron on 8. Don't want to go over the back of that bugger. Although I think they were going to change that too, looks like a lot of trees gone from what there used to be....

Cleared out a lot of trees and added the Fairway mounds and 'holes'. Great as they do not need the attention sand bunkers do and still punish the wayward shots. Changed the hole configuration as well with new ones and the redesigned giving a challenging course to enjoy.

I'm heading up to the Riverland at the end of next week for three days. I'm hoping to play at least 2 maybe 3 of the courses up there. I've played Waikerie and Renmark before but a long time ago. I'm staying in Barmera so that will most likely be one of the courses, so I'm looking for suggestions for the others.

Also I played Balaklava last week, its a volunteer maintained course with very basic greens (they were being sanded as we were there to be fair) which affected my score a fair bit, however I really enjoyed the back 9. Worth a look and the $20 green fee should you ever be in the area.

Res, I lived in Berri for the first 13 years of my life and was a junior member there for a couple years. Def worth checking it out if u havent played it. Quite a cool country track. Greens are excellent normally and can be quick in summer. Barmera is not the best but if ur staying there could be worth a hit. Loxton also one of the best riverland tracks and is about 30 minutes from Barmera. Let us know how u go.

Last time I was up there played Barmera and Berri, if I was to go back I'd play Berri twice! (and I was also staying in Barmera). The Berri course was in much better condition than Barmera, and was just 'nicer' in general, plus it had a good clubhouse

Can only say that it was in good condition in December, and to be honest I would be surprised if it wasn't in good condition now. I love the course and think it is definately worth a visit.

I was in the Riverland over Christmas and only played the Barmera course but it was in as good condition as I have ever seen it. They were struggling with water but have now secured town supply and things are really looking up. Which is good because I think it is one of the better course designs up there. Especially the par 3's. Waikerie is my pick of the 5 while interestingly Berri is my least favourite. The course is generally in good condition but I think that there are some pretty ordinary holes and so often you have to walk back from the green for the next tee shot. Doesn't seem at all well designed. Plus, I don't generally like that you start with a par 3. Renmark is very up and back, especially on the front but does improve on the back.

Being in the SE of the State on the Limestone Coast I have 1) courses within an hour drive of home which is great value for playing various Opens through the season.
Most recent one was at Bordertown and the greens here were among the best I have played on so far. Below are the vids of the two days play and the socializing which makes these country Opens so much fun.

Played in a pro-am at the Dunes Pt.Hughes yesterday big field on a nine hole course.

The course was extremely well manicured.
The greens were lightening and firm which didnt help the cause of many.

Can only report on the morning session but all the pros. said the greens are the best they have ever played.
Even better than Royal Melbourne when their at their best, 3 Pros made that statement.
I guess comments like these can only help there cause.
Oh Yeah i won the NTP woohoo

Not 100% sure mate, few rumours going round. They do need to sell a lot more blocks in the development fairly soon .
Im led to believe Troon expected to cut a sizable loss in the first year. How long they keep it for is another thing.
They are really stuck between a rock and a hard place, in as much as they haven't achieved the membership no's expected
but a 9 hole course can only cope with so many on it at once anyway.
Saturday was testament to that bout 110 players 2 tee times turned in a 5 hour round. Played hit and wait most of the time.
And the rough is'nt even rough yet ! I spose as long as the owner keeps paying the bills play will go on !

Wait n see is all we can do.

Always enjoy a round at this course. One of the first regional Opens I played in was here. The experience of golfing on different greens, fairways and socialising after a round at country clubs is second to none. It was here that I was introduced to the joy of fairways lined with Gum Trees. Coming from a coastal course where the last place you look for hazards is up in the air, the inland golf courses soon change that.
