Had the misfortune to play with a couple of mates at North Adelaide South today. Have they had their mower stolen? It's a farm at the mo. Aside from the normal furry slow greens some of the fairways have winter grass over 2" deep extending from the tee boxes to the landing zones! It's not very funny playing from the middle of the fairway out of grass you see in the 2nd cut at the US Open. Just rude.
The round took 5 hours because it's near impossible to find a ball anywhere off the fairways (& on some of them). Give it a miss.

its one of the best courses i have played , i cant believe there is a course like that in the middle of nowhere and its $20 for all day, puts some of the public courses in adelaide to shame .
    Hey Mardo,

Balaklava is on the list, played it yesterday in fact. Completely agree about the course, was absolutely fantastic. Good condition, definately wasn't boggy (played at Clare on Saturday which was a different story...) and the greens were true. A good mix of par 3's and you're right, a good price.

Meant to be playing North Adelaide this weekend, so not good hearing that Tim...

Never been a fan of NA but I played there about a month ago and was in reasonable nick but greens were slow as usual. I guess that's the last time they had the mower out Tim... I don't think I have ever seen a greenskeeper on that course.

As promised, couple of pics of Edithburgh's 7th/16th. The tee box feels even smaller when there is a strong wind into your face as your hitting.

Note on the second pic that the green is not the one to the right hand side, rather the one over the trees straight ahead from the tee. Pic doesnt probably do the hole justice.

Great Pics Hamo. Will have to head over to Edithburg, are there any other courses in SA where a hole plays directly on the oceanfront like that? Its like our own little Pebble Beach.

And for $8 for a round its not bad value either, im heading there in about a month with My Dad and uncle for a fishing/golfing trip so should be able to get a few rounds in.

Funny you say Pebble Beach, club differences due to the wind is not dissimilar to that of PB. I have hit PW with a strong wind at my back and had to hit 4 hybrid into the wind. Its a windy place, guess thats why they have Windfarms down there.

$8.... How do they even make money? I guess a couple home members and scrapes keep the running costs down..

    Bit windy out this weekend.
RA had a massive pine that sits between the 4th green & 6th fairway blow over! That's going to make a hooked ball off the 6th soooooooo much easier to get to the dancefloor.

Yes, great pics. $8! Amazing! Surely ANY golf course is worth $8?!

Flavzz, there's a couple around the place that I know of..

The 6th/15th at Port Neill is pretty similar. Not quite over the ocean but it is pretty close. The 5th/14th there is a par 5 which also runs parallel to the beach.

The 1st at Port Victoria is a longer par 3 from memory that's pretty close to the beach. One of the trickiest opening holes going around, especially if the wind is up.

Yeah, the country courses are normally very good value. Most scrapes courses are only $5 to play. I think this is often achieved through the work of club members who volunteer good chunks of time to help keep the club running.

Tim, it was pretty blustery on Saturday arvo. We were finishing playing the Nth course at Nth Adelaide just as the wind was picking up about 3 o'clock. There were branches coming down and all sorts. Definately glad we were finishing.

On a side note, boy I hate the greens at Nth Adelaide Sth. I think the ones on the Nth course were much better...

Geez, if its the one I am thinking of that is one big tree! Is that the one that drops shit all over the 4th green if the wind if from the Nth? I'd imagine it would have been there as one of the original trees planted on the course?
