Talking Heads actually took the term " Burnin down the house" from the Funk Kings, P Funk. Apparantly, the drummer (who was Tina Weymouth's (the Bass Player) husband) of Talking heads went to a P Funk concert and came back yelling out P Funks war cry, "Burn down the House" ie get up and dance! The band (TH) just wrote a song around it. P Funk were one of Talking Heads's major inspirations. Listen to this live recording of one of their songs that contains one of the great Lead guiter solos of all time. P Funk, Yeah!!!!

(yes I know it is from 1979 not 1980)

    regards,

    Pete

Trying to remember the great concerts of the 80's. Dire Straits, Bruce Springsteen.

Yoss, shut up and get a music edumacation. None of those crap bands you were pushing as original not so long ago would exist without the 80's (eg RATM - Listen to some Black Flag and Anthrax ...).

Ah, SRV. One of the greats.

I think you will find he was playing lead guitar in my 1st post on page one. "Biggest" guitar tone of all time.

    One of my favourite tracks:

    The King of Tone
    Naturally grippy

Can't find a decent version of London Calling on u-pube. I know it is 1979 but it was 80's for me.

How good is the chick from Transvision Vamp and how good does she sound.

A few good clips from Poison and The Cure. I used to write their band names on the pencil case. Funny stuff.

Rick Astley? WTF is going on with his clothes. What about the blue get up he's wearing in the video.

Best concert I attended in the 80's was an Oils concert at the Sydney Entertainment Centre in about 89. Unbelievable how pumped everyone was, including the 15 or 20 Garrett lookalikes jumping around down near the stage.

The mention of Poison talk reminded me of Alice Cooper (and it is from the 80's) ...
