Now this is what I expected to see in the 80's music thread. I've got a mixed CD of 80's cheese - Wham!, Duran Duran, Spandau Ballet, The Human League, Dead or Alive, J Geils, Rick Springfield. I love it.

Still not playing enough GolfLink | Slightly less terrible stats brought to you by Golfshot - F: 57%, GIR: 23%, UD: 14%, P: 34. Wow, improvement! | Nickent brand ho or tightarse? You be the judge!

FM 97.3 in Brisbane is my new favourite radio station. Plays plenty of 80's cheese.

    Some quality one hit wonders too;

Grayson Hugh - Talk it over.
    Underworld - Underneath the radar.

And a few other "hits" which will be finding their way onto the iPod.
    Forum needs more banter.

Underworld had a second hit that sounds nothing like the first one.

I have to admit, I was a little shocked at Bruce D's post as well.

Another nod to Run DMC and Beastie Boys here.

All around, the 80s were and awesome decade.

Gunners, Motley Crue, Van Halen (w/Dave). Def Leppard (before they turned ghey), Depeche Mode, New Order, The Cars, Billy Idol.

    So much variety.

as you get older you come to appreciate some things that 20 years ago you hated. For example Adlo will rave about the Cut in 20 years.

Its not Iron Maiden at Rod Laver arena but I'll go and enjoy a real band playing good live music.

All we need now is Van Halen to reform with Diamond Dave Lee Roth and its happy days. My biggest regret is not seeing Motley Crue and Motorhead when they toured a few years ago....

If The Cut is still there in twenty years...

Motorhead are on the way here soon I think?

So you didn't like Gary Cherone then 'eh ?

VH with DLR was certainly the best lineup, although i think Mr Roth would have a hard time keeping up the stage antics these days

Had to get to the second page to see someone had posted Madness and Simple Minds! At least I wasn't the first. Live in City of Light is a fantastic Simple Minds double cd! Used to borrow a friends vinyl of it.

    VH without Dave is crap.

Sammy took VH to a cheese level.

    Gary is unmentionable.

Was never into the metal, but living on the beaches we loved Australian Crawl (I can still listen to Sirocco) and Midnight Oil/ INXS always played close by.

By the late 80's, it was Sydney guitar pop, Falling Joys (Lock It), Tall Tales and True (Trust) , The Clouds.

Would attach a link but youtube is banned at work.

My favourite Talking Heads songs came from the 80s...Burning Down the House, for example:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xNnAvTTaJjM (not the rather puzzling Tom Jones cover)

I saw VH with Cherone in it and it was dire, worst gig I've ever been to by a considerable margin.

5150 with Sammy Hagar is a great album

VH with Sammy was downright disgusting !! Sammy Hagar needs to be shot .... too much wanking off onstage and not enough content being applied to the content in the music.

Gary was good in Extreme i thought, but he didn't cut the mustard in VH.
