I was watching the score on my phone and it looked like a close match but Ash's class showed in the end.

Her opponent made a really nice speech about how they are close friends and was really happy for her, very classy.

Ash was a set point down and then decided to go for it. She has a knack for gambling big serves etc. at the right time in matches. Her opponent lost the plot after that game, throwing double faults and wild forehands long and wide.

Had it gone to a third set the game would have become alot more interesting. I still think Ash would have won as her opponent whilst hitting big winners was far too variable with her ground strokes

It's not going to happen, Yoss. The hate is too strong.

Have we had a look at Barty's draw? What a nightmare! She might have to overcome Murguruza, Bencic, and S Williams or Kerber, just to get to a semi final. That said, getting to the second week would be an improvement on last year.

IMO a good thing considering the magical draw she landed at the French. This will really test her, something you need if you have an 1 next to your name

French open a lot fell her way . Having the no 1 theoretically means she is in form and should be able to beat everyone else . If she gets threw to the final then she is deserving of the no 1 ranking . It’s going to be a big test and I hope she is up to it

She's deserving now, through excellent win loss and a major title.

It's only one tournament and even if she loses early it's sure not the end of the world. Hopefully she goes well but if she doesn't she is still playing at a fantastic level and has plenty of time to make her mark on various tournies in coming years. She plays great tennis on all surfaces and if anything the French would have been her hardest to win.

I missed the first set, as I was out, then didn't figure out that it was on channel 7, and not Fox.

    Classic Tomic last night too.

Barty looking good to cruise through this 2nd round match. Would of had plenty of practice competing against lesbo's in cricket.

He can appeal but that could mean he would have to plead his case in front of a panel or similar.

Nick and the umpire need to go at it in blow up sumo wrestler suits.

The umpire is shitting himself in every conversation with him.

After three breaks of serve in the second set, we didn't see another one.

Nadal claims he lost the second because he got distracted by Nick's conversations with the umpire (mostly about how slow Nadal is). More opponents should make an issue of it, especially if it puts him off.

I completely agree. Kyrgios is an easy guy to hate but that alone doesn't make his underarm serves or his conversations about slow opponents as bad as the media like to beat on about.

Yep. 1st round losers prize money! Ice said before, he's still making some money, even if it seems he doesn't really like tennis. Well, maybe not making any this week...

Nick was trying to press Nadal's wide forehand with his crosscourt backhand but as he got a bit tired missed them wide. Which made his down the line b/hand less effective and then he pressed his forehand too much. Two years ago Federer lined up the volleyer at the net with a full throttle backhand at least a dozen times during his Wimbledon matches. Nick does a pearler at Nadal and Rafa wants a formal apology. Check out Lendl KOs John McEnroe on Youtube.
I have had Lendl hit a identical forehand at me from the same spot Kyrios went at Nadal. I ducked under it and watched it hit the back fence of a pro court without dropping an inch.

Expecting an apology for that body hit was silly; it didn't even hit him, it got his racquet.
