Interesting that at the on court interview Stefano mentioned his respect for Roger on court when it was clear that he was using blatant gamesmanship stalling tactics. Milking every hawkeye moment is fine but going overtime constantly to piss off Roger is not. The catching of his serve ball toss, the shoe lace bs , the prolonged trainer at end change followed by ahh I forgot to change my racket for new balls while Roger stands waiting. That trainer being called 10 minutes earlier was questioned by Roger. In this aspect of his strategy on centre court facing two time defending champion shows under all the nice guy facade he is a cheat.

Honour in sport is gone?? To much money in it you now push the boundaries of everything you can?

Been having a big debate on a tri Forum about drafting, which is a rules infringement on the bike leg. It's amazing how many people don't consider intentional drafting as cheating, but a "rules infringement"?

That's a tough one, semantically. I mean, technically a forward pass in a game of football could be considered cheating if it results in an advantage.

Hitting a hybrid 280m down the guts off double figures is compound cheating.

That’s always been my Lance Armstrong argument.

It's in the intent! And that I guess is part of the problem in identifying it. How about holding down in the tackle? Isn't that a penalty offence? Taking a dive in soccer to gain a free kick? Kyan used to play in under 10's, 11's and 12/13's and I used to see kids do it.

This is the kind of argument around cycling I see. The "everyone's doing it so it's still a level playing field". But not everyone is doing it. Some that chose not to fell out of the sport (or were pushed out of it) because they couldn't compete against drug cheats. And the drugs can affect people differently, having a greater affect on somethan others.

The South American teams started it back in the Maradona era, now its become the norm and soccer pundits think it's just a natural part of the game. Now all the middle eastern countries go down like flies injured to ride the clock when they have a lead. So bad to watch particularly live

Cricket is no different, a long time ago every batsmen used to walk when they knicked it. It was the Australian's who put a stop to that and since then that has become the norm. Only exception to the rule being Adam Gilchrist

A long time ago is an understatement - you would have to go back to pre WG Grace days to make any sort of argument about batsmen consistently 'walking' when they nicked it. Keith Miller talked about this back in the 1950s - he described how English batsmen (Colin Cowdrey was one example) would walk when it was obviously out in order to gain a reputation as a walker, and then not walk if it was a close one in order to try and fool the umpire. Another player who always walked though was Brian Lara - he doesn't get enough credit for also doing it.

We were out for lunch when this match was on. We saw the end of the 2nd set before we left the Restaurant and I said to the Mrs; I bet Sharapova pulls one of her stunts shortly. You can read her like a book. I can't stand her. She is all of what is wrong with Tennis imo.

High class tennis match between Serena and Halep. I thought Halep might have worn her down midway thru the third.

Interesting to see which is the best route in the womens 1/4 final between Pavlyucjenkova and Collins. The tour route against the US college route. 😉

No favouritism shown by Hewitt in his selection at all......

Thompson picked yet again, you know, because he tries hard for Australia.
Ebden overlooked again also, maybe because he wasn't born in Australia, or he made a tweet that Lleyton didn't like.

    Nadal looked clinical, comebacks complete.
Will play Joker, multi into Sarina?

Is this the tennis betting thread now? Cool! I'm running at 259% for this tournament. Chi-ching!

The way Kvitova played last night, would be good enough to beat Serena. It is not like Halep is a benchmark at the moment, after not playing since the US Open last year, until a couple of weeks ago.

I think she just had that game where everything was on....Barty couldn’t get started....
Serena just finds ways to win....
