Deplorable effort. Fitzgerald has called it out and I don’t blame him

No thanks. I don't need to see it a second time.

Kokk throws the kitchen sink at the world number 5. Takes him to 5 sets.

Walks away with the same paycheck as Bernie

Both ranked about the same losing to guys ranked about the same. Not that staggering at all really. In fact, one got in the hard way via qualifying, and the other was gifted a wildcard.

I was thinking about players not deserving to play the Australian Open, and Destanee Aiava immediately came to mind. I had a look back through her record, and she has never qualified for a Grand Slam, but has now been gifted 4 wildcards into the Australian Open for a 0-4 record. She has total prizemoney of $414k in her career, but over $220k of that has been "gifted" by Tennis Australia through wildcards to the Aus Open, or the lead-in tournaments.

I've long been aware of the Tennis Australia model of funding their players through wildcards, but Aiava seems to be an example where the money is wasted, and she probably wouldn't have a career without this funding. She is still only 20, so there is still time for her to show something, but I don't she is deserving of wildcards anymore.

Not sure about Serena’s mumble suit. Last one to hit the tour was an all white number that was worn in the 1st round of Wimbledon yonks ago. It was banned by the All England Club immediately.

A bet on one of the Ruskies to win this may be a fruitful payday.

Straight away you can see that Nick is playing to bait Theim to play forward more and try to hit him off the court. A bit like Rocky and Apollo Creed.
