Default 2010 WA Matchplay, nominations closed, respect.

Ok gents, with the final all set for Sunday, we can look toward 2010 now.

2009 was a shambles to start with, but we got there in the end.

Can we get some interest for the 2010 season?

Scratchings will be much harsher this year. Cut off dates will be set in concrete. Lets do this the right way.

Cut off date for nominations: done. Draw: done

    New thread here.

    OK, I'll start.

    1. Adlo, tipped for 2010 glory.
    2. Old man HMOI, man of many words.
    3. Rowdy Roddy TourFat
    4. Mega-ShoeHo-Watty, the revolving WITB-man.
    5. Cwazy Canuck, the 2009 WA OzGolf dominator.
    6. Yossarian, no chance when his real handicap catches up with him.
    7. iTree 3.0, new and improved for 2010, will be updated with ability actually close out a match with less than a triple bogey.
    8. Zuesgolfer, now permitted to join, has legitimate ownership of "the straightest driver ever"
    9. SeldomEagles, brown cardigan wearing closet ho.
    10. Pieface, Bobby Locke was called "old muffin face" you know.
    11. Uncle Kumquat Nuts, or is it Lowball-Nuts?
    12. The Nuffinator, has super human talking abilities.
    13. Veefore, trying desperately to increase the numbers from Hartfield, even though they still have no chance.
    14. TopDog, it is all about quality, not quantity.
    15. Bruce Dickinson, hoping redeem the shame that came with his scratching in 2009.

when's the cut off date for entry?
would be good to be able to get the 1st round up and running in early Jan as i'm sure most of us are having a few days off around then. I'm not back to work until the 18th.

Yeah, I think 1st round matches in January are the way to go.

I will leave nominations open until the end of December and then make a draw straight away.

I think the knock out format works well.

3/4 handicaps to combat bandits that don't play comp golf.

    OR

2009 winner has his handicap reduced by 25% for the next comp. i am fine with this.

So if we do knockout correctly, we should run with a 16 starter draw. The first round would only have 3 matches with the rest getting a bye. I'd suggest that the 2009 champ will automatically take one of those byes. I've done up a sample draw on paper, but I'll get a proper one done up if Adlo doesn't mind me telling him how to suck eggs?

I just went ahead and did a SAMPLE draw up. I think we should have a proper draw using numbers and a random generator. Those that have Macs could watch via iChat! Very formal I know, but a bit of fun at the same time!!!

Something like that will work, well done MW.

If we can get closer to 16 players, that would be sweet.

I suggest the top players from this year get a bye, ie JC and Yoss, then depending on numbers, Adlo & TourFit etc.....

yeah finalists, then semi-finalists get first round bye for sure.

i'm glad that is only a draft draw, i don't want to go up against the ZUES first up.

good work though MW. You should also try and draw names in the first round as to who gets to choose course.

No probs. I've also found a random list generator which is perfect for getting a completely fair draw. I want to pull the trigger on it now!!! Hurry up and get your noms in everyone.

So if all goes well, we'll finish just as it starts to p!ss down in May!

So it looks like it's going ahead. Perhaps put some more urgency into the opening post, and change from EOI to now needing confirmations. Any numbers over 16 will have to play off for the final 1 or 2 spots I reckon.

PM sent to Nuff, Veefore, Bergsey, Topdog and BruceD, asking for confirmation yay or nay.

Mayhem is a mate, I know he will struggle to play the extra golf. Qbnchopper got scratched last year so I wont bother (he lives on tgf.com) and zrw is also unlikely.

We get 16, then we can do the draw...Which'll make the January preparation a lot easier.

Just let me do the draw...NOW!!!
