Default WA 2009 Matchplay Final, Mt Lawley, 13/12, Can the Canuck make it a clean sweep?

    OK,

While I am disappointed I am not in the final, I am breathing a sigh of relief that we finally got to the point of having a final by the end of the year.

2009 has been a big year for WA OzGolfers.

    The inaugural Sandgroper Champs
    The inaugural WA Matchplay
Having more than 3 WA OzGolfers posting on the forums
And who can forget the countless threadjacks (apart from 3OD who ignored them all)

So the final event for the year is here and attendance has been locked in!

Johnny Canuck (4) vs Yossarian (22)

17 shots. Can the cwazy canadian somehow muster enough internet money? Will Yossarian buckle under pressure and collapse like an Aldila DVS noodle?
The Canuck is trying to make it a clean sweep of all the "WA Majors".

Mt Lawley GC, Sunday December 13, 2009.

What a great course to play this thing. I am in like Flynn to watch this and "score".

    My book would be running:

    JC $1.80
    Yoss $2.20

JC is a fierce competitor who seemingly can will the ball to do what he wants. Yoss is a high handicapper capable of golf much better (and much worse) than his handicap. Which Yoss will we see Sunday?

    Let the sledging begin!!

    Cheers guys.

It was pretty funny. Yoss told me that Ziggy pm'd him and told him to put the idea of going left in my head. As soon as he said that, he hit everything right. He is serious when he says he didn't hit a fairway until the 17th.

I was very steady off the tee with my driver. I didn't have to punch a single shot out of the rough all day. I think that put a lot of pressure on Yoss and he pressed a little too much.

I ended up with 30 points, but putt very tentatively on holes that I would normally attack due to the match play and having 2 putts to win, etc..

After the match ended, Yoss played like a champion and I went to shit. I had 4 points in the final 4 holes and Yoss would have won them all if the match was still going.

Tourfit had another "TourSpit" and took a divot on the 9th green with his putter. Adidas is thinking of pulling his sponsorship due to this behaviour.

It's becoming quiet a feature of his play isn't it?

I didn't doubt, I just never relaxed. If you'd told me to relax I woulda been in with a shot. Geez.

That and if you could make JC play more like a chopper.

    Congratulations Johnny.
    Commiserations Yoss.

    ffs. Didn't hit a fairway until 17.
You must have posted the straightness east with that VS-Proto, which goes scary straight.

That's not entirely true. He hit a few fairways on the front nine, just in the wrong order.

I missed a couple in the first cut to! That said it was a shithouse driving performance. 17 was actually the only fairway I hit. Good times.

Well played JC, commisserations Yoss (we all have to lose first before we win).

    Not good, Tourspit.

Congrats to JC he got the pressure on early with a fair sledging performance the whole way down the first hole from the looks of it Impressive to win convincingly after Yoss' run of form and giving up a shot a hole.

Hard luck Yoss I'm sure you'll have learned some good lessons to put to use next time you are playing under pressure.

Wasn't really a divot per se, just a brush mark caused by the putter base roughing up the bent grass aginst the grain...a few taps and it was fine !

In fact it was the best shot I hit ALL day...perfect contact out of the centre of the club face...50m into the bush with the brand new TM TP Red LDP!!! They also forgot to mention that the Itsy Bitsy helicoptered towards the bag BEFORE I stalked off after the ball. It's not very aerodynamic, the Itsy Bitsy !!!

I was pissed because I'd hit 2 perfect shots on the Par 5 9th to get into great position to score. I was only 35m out & skinnied my 58* wedge through the green (thanks Golfnut for the noisy suck on the drink bottle not 2ft behind me, I nearly crapped my dacks !!). Hit another poor chip from the thick rough behind the green, missed the 15ft par putt, then missed the return putt to wipe the hole. STORY OF MY DAY.

And now I find my shoulder is stuffed to boot (and not from helicoptering putters!).

I am also thinking of a name change...TourSpit, TourShit, TourUnFit, TourFat all work at the mo'

Actually I hit a fairway on 4 I think, I thought it was in the bunker but it wasn't. So two fairways for the day!

    Ya think???

I'm just sick of the great shot/crap shot routine...Have been feeling like I've been on the upturn of form and then I waste a good start (like on Friday), or fall in a heap.

Also, I'm sick of playing injured...as much as I tell myself it'll be OK, it's really not so good for consistency.

Try a crap shot/crap shot routine like mine TF. Yours won't seem so bad then

You are right about one thing though. Playing injured is no good!

He'll be OK as long as he's still got his deal with Maxibon.
Still not playing enough GolfLink | Slightly less terrible stats brought to you by Golfshot - F: 57%, GIR: 23%, UD: 14%, P: 34. Wow, improvement! | Nickent brand ho or tightarse? You be the judge!

Swinging a putter hard with one arm will throw out a shoulder.

    Get well soon Tourfit.
