Long standing member at my club picks up in a stroke round but still manages to win the comp. He tapped it around the cup for a 4 jag before picking up. His partner just made it a one putt gimmie as that's what they do inside 4ft. "Not playing for sheep stations mate" I didn't say anything more as it was the 6th hole and I was pretty sure he'd already used up his 14 handicap shots. He continued to chop it up big time for the rest of the round. He posted a winning net 67 score.

Letter to the committee, both the winner and the marker should go , the not playing for sheep stations is easy just reply “ so you will be donating your winnings to the junior program “ or “ you don’t accept the prizes for winning then “ but I bet they grab them with both hands . There will be kick back if you report them , so finding a new club could be the end result

He marked everyone's card in the group and he insisted on this because he does every week. His regular chain smoking playing partner is literally brain dead.

Does he win every week or does he share it with the others in his group occasionally. So that means he marks his own card ? Think a lot of people have been turning a blind eye and for a longtime. Good luck , sounds like a shooting bambi episode coming up if you complain

It would be fun to be in that group again and pick up his and your card from the starter, and simply give him your card and keep his to mark yourself. I suspect he may have a heart attack though...

Solution,Bring a new "mate" to club and book into his group.New mate does the routine, no,I'll mark your card so there's no suggestion of collusion between me and Ferrins

    Bloody Gimmes in comps.
Is it really that hard to just putt the ball out?

Played with a guy yesterday, used to play with him fairly regularly.

    Put himself down for a 5 on a Par 3. 0 points.
But, he didn't putt the ball out.
Picked it up an inch from the hole.

I wasn't marking his card, so assumed he had a pickup.

    We get to Hole 9.
His marker is about 1.5 feet from the hole.
Says to his marker "You're good mate"
His playing partner refuses, due to proximity to the clubhouse.

It was at this point that I said something.
He dropped the lip, said nothing to me for 3-4 holes.

    It's been reported.

We had a low marker that was notorious for it. Is currently serving a 10 week ban after someone filmed him doing it.

Not his first suspension for it either. Ironically, one of his past partners of "crime" was a Club Captain.

I don't have a problem writing 5/0 on the card as it would be counted as a 5 by the system anyway if you just put "-" down.

Gimmes definite no no, they are a problem at my club also..

Do you think he meant he would have taken it if he couldn't be seen from the clubhouse? ie. He knows it's wrong and shouldn't be done - but they go along with it.
