Have managed to sneak out a bit over the last week..... Cousin and I have been fishing in our yearly "Flathead Classic"..... All we have managed to catch is these "Whiting".... Been tough.

Boated about 20+ in the last few days, and have dropped that amount as well.... .

Ditching the golf this weekend and getting the boat wet... tides and moon are setting up well for a jew attack.

Taking the the GF on her maiden trip ( with me, her old man is mad keen so she has done a bit before)... In the past GF's and my boat have ALWAYS ended in tears. Always.

Aaah, brings back memories of fishing at Muttee Heads for jewies in a previous life. For two weeks of the year the big silver Jew park themselves at the pylons of the old water jetty. The only way to get them in the boat is very heavy cord hand lines.

Anyone spearfish here? I'm considering taking it up after winter as my spearo mate always catches more than I do with a line!

I have tried, but it was hard work....

My cousin is right into up north. It is amazing what you see with a snorkel & mask in the middle of the reef.

That's certainly part of the appeal. Last time I went for a swim with a snorkel I saw all sorts of things... and a few I thought I could spear... hence my sudden interest.

    Default Fishing

Snuck out this morning before the bad weather (wind/rain) forecasted for this weekend set in.

It was tough, started blowing pretty hard before 8am which made the drift tough to organise.

Managed to pull this just before the tide started running too hard. Initially I was sure it was a big jewie, lots of head shakes. It ended up bricking me on a snag for a couple of minutes as well. A bit of handy driving on the leccy saw me pull this bad boy out, eventually. So stoked to get him to the boat, the disappointment of not seeing silver was removed.

Measured 69cm which is a PB....
