Anyway. Shaun, the Morcombes have done a hell of a lot for child safety awareness. Their persistence has got a child rapist/murderer off the streets.
Well done to them.

Nah, you were right first time. Clearly you were better on the pick up than those that later informed you wrong.

Not wanting to see someone on tv doesn't equal having no sympathy for them or their situation, which seems to be the implication being made by those attacking sms on this topic.

Sounds good in theory, but even if they annoy the bejesus out of you, the fact that they are doing so much for child safety should mean that you could let this one slide.......

Almost got it right....and they had a child abducted and murdered, there lives ripped apart.
Most people suffer from opening their mouth without thinking - some extend it to typing. How you attribute some form of blame onto the family for the inevitable media circus is beyond me.
As for finding fault with them for trying to make something out of the loss of their child - sorry that escapes me.
Cheers

At least you're playing the ball and not the man.Are they doing a lot for child safety? I don't think they get much publicity outside of QLD.

You're right. Poor SMS. It must have been awful for him to have to see the Morecomes on tv occasionally while they improved safety for all of our kids and had their son's murderer brought to justice. Clearly we all need to support SMS while he tries to put this horrible episode behind him.

If I hadn't read of them on here I wouldn't know who they were. Still know very little of what happened.

You really are from an island on the north of Tasmania.
They have had a lot of coverage over here in the west. But I've always kept a bit of an eye out for it.

A bit of the extra coverage could be due to incidents that seem similar in '97 and '99 here in WA so this was only 4 years later. Then again I'm sure other states have unfortunately had similar incidents also. So who knows but that is my guess.

Out driving Marty Ayers, once.
Admittedly he hit 3W, into a bunker, but I am still taking it!. On another hole, he hits 3W past my drive by about 30! I don't even want to measure how much further his driver goes.

Criticism doesn't bother me, as it means I am doing something and people are watching.

After reading the media reports that the case was close to being assigned to the cold case files I'm glad that his parents were "media whores" as you so eloquently called them.Without their determination and persistence this maggot may well be free to offend again. As for the comments about the foundation fattening their wallets (or wages, whichever you said), do you base this on anything in particular or are you just taking a guess/making an assumption?

Hasn't this maggot been free to offend again for the last 9 or so years?
I'm glad they finally got him.

Damn straight! Who knows what else he's done in that time - and there is no way I'd believe he hasn't done more while out.

He has, my strawman is that if Daniel's parents had not been so dogged he may well still be free today to continue destroying lives.
I hope they chuck him in general population and let the inmates deal their type of justice to him.

I shouldn't weigh in on the Morecombes but I can't resist. It's fantastic that they caught the guy, and the world is a better place with him locked away. As a parent, I really feel for them and I can't imagine what it would be like in their shoes. However, I kinda hope this is where it ends for them, and they can go off and find some peace.
I know this is a controversial view, but I think the risks are far too low to justify teaching a generation of kids from a very young age to be fearful and suspicious.
Probably too heavy for this thread, so I'll add an on topic "Things you like" - I asked my four year old a few weeks ago how she would go about crossing the road if we weren't around to help her do it. Without batting an eyelid she said "I would walk backwards, and I wouldn't look at all". Safety conversation sorted.

Got a better place for him SH, San Pedro prison in La Paz, Bolivia. The place where the Aussie guy wrote "Marching Powder"
Rapists and paedophiles are not tolerated. In one of the more horrifying scenes from Young‘s book tells how three young men convicted of raping and murdering a young girl are beaten and drowned in‗’La Piscina‘, the public swimming pool which plays a dark role in the prison‘s social justice system.

I'm happy to contribute to the airfare to get him there.
