Spending a week away camping and doing nothing but relaxing, drinking, fishing, drinking and a game of golf or 2.

I went out and had a muck around hit at Fairbairn GC, the air force golf course at Canberra the other day.

It used to be very ordinary when i last played there 10 years ago, so at the midpoint of a record breaking summer, I wasn't expecting much.

The greens were fast and pure, the bunkers have all been redone in shaping, depth and had a good layer of sand. Tees and fairways were remarkably pure and free from week/mixed grasses.

It will never host a major event being short, tight in places, but I had a good fun afternoon out there, much to my surprise.

    Good customer service.

At Bunnings of all places. I have moved onto a property and I have to start learning how to do jobs around the place, fencing...general shit that I have only done as a kid and really can't remember.

Anyhoo, I had been to Bunnings several times looking for structural wood, long fence palings etc and found nothing and recieved no help.

Played golf with a couple of people who work there last weeken, out the back in the lumber area. I had no idea it existed, I thought it was "tradies" only type thing. Yeh yeh, I know now...but had no idea.

I go out the back, find someone, tell them what I am after. He goes through it, asks what size. Cuts it all for free...helps me throw in the Ranger. All in all..bloody awesome. I won't be as anxious asking out there for help AND I saw all the other shit on their site I just couldn't find....great stuff.

Now this isn't exceptional service, its is just someone doing their job. But considering how little help I usually get at the local bunnings...pretty stoked to be honest.

Now lets see if I can make these damn saw horses without needing a trip to the ER.

The couple of times I’ve had to go into the lumber yard they’ve seemed like they’re genuinely happy to talk about stuff.

Don’t stress at all. You won’t be the dumbest bloke they speak to that day.
