This is what happened to my group, another guy was sitting in the cart when his partner hit a shot that hit a tree and then the cart.

VW engines. The timing chain just failed on my GTI and led to a piston pretty well self destructing and taking out one of the cylinders. I loved that car. Had it since new and in the 7 years and 120k km it had been pretty bulletproof. Now I have a choice of spending $7-8k putting in a 2nd hand engine on a car only worth $15-18k or pretty much writing it off. I expected this kind of shit to happen to my old Alfa, not a relatively new VW. Wankers.

Would you believe after a month or so of back and forth VW have now agreed to put a brand new engine in it for free. That's a massive win! I can't believe they blinked first!

Not sure which version they're putting in. There's not much difference between the two. The current model engine would be great but if they manage to find one of the originals and put it in there I'm happy enough with that too.

This morning there is an email to say that they have shipped the order, though in truth all they have done is create a Shipping Label in the Fedex system. The really bemusing thing is the estimated delivery date is yesterday!
