You talking about Melbourne or a short trip to Glenorchy.

There are so many Collis, also depends on bucks, a few are well over the $100 mark but worth it. If you stay at Hyatt Sanctuary Cove you can play the private course I believe (The Pines designed by Arnold Palmer), its a ripper!. Hope Island is also very good but I think you need to know a member to get on.

Of the others I have heard good things about the Glades, but have not played it myself. Royal Pines is good but usually busy. In the value for money category you have Coolangatta Tweed, and a little drive over the border has you at Byron Bay, Ocean Shores and Murwillumbah in quick time. Lots of other courses on or near the Coast as well, I like Robina Woods and Gainborough Greens is reasonable value.

    poor misguided fool.

dont worry about going where the golf courses are, as if you are going to get out for more than one or two.

Your only hope is Barnbougle Dunes, because there is nothing else you can do there.

Anybody else have any suggestions on this topic?

I'm in the process of planning a holiday for the end of the year that needs to incorporate a beach (or at least a pool), some shopping, decent food / wine and if possible a golf course or two.

Have started looking at a few of the resorts in QLD but am having a hard time finding somewhere with a decent course that has enough activities to entertain a non-golfer for a week or two.

Perth could be an option, some nice courses and some good shops.

bit harsh Mark. There are some wineries in the NE too.

And once the Lost Farm opens I don't think I'll care how many cases the missus orders from the cellar doors if I can get a few rounds at both courses in over a couple of days.

Depends on what you want I guess. Plenty of good resort courses on the Gold coast & quite a few in the Sunshine coast & some awesome beaches as well ,plenty of shopping & of course if you pick GC. there are the theme parks as well.
If you want to do the touristy bit there is plenty to do & see in both regions.

Too right, you either pick a place with awesome golf courses and its going to be crap for the shops - eg Murray River.

Or pick somewhere like the Gold Coast where she might love the shopping and entertainment but the Golf courses are nothing special, and overpriced.
(unless you seek out the good courses like Murwillumbah, Coolangatta Tweed heads etc)

I dont reckon you can really get on a winner for both of you, one of you has to sacrifice something. And the best part is no matter where you go, there will be a golf course somewhere.

Face it, she is not going to be happy if the shops are not awesome, but reality is we can play golf anywhere and be happy, (well at least i could, I aint a golf course snob)
