Not on the bedside as such but has been read laying around the house with the cricket on. Got it for Xmas yesterday off Rachelle.

    Crossing the Ditch. James Castrisson

It is the story of the 2 guys who paddled a kayak from Australia to NZ last year. Good read so far. Just past halfway.

My sister in law gave me a copy of "Tall Man" by Chloe Hooper to browse through on Christmas Day. It brought back many memories of Hell in paradise.

Always got a few books on the go, depending on whether its midnight or a lazy Sunday arvo. At the moment it's :

Dream On (One Hacker's Challenge to Break Par in a Year) - John Richardson
    Nine Dragons - Michael Connelly
The Alchemist - Paulo Coelho (added yesterday)
The Germans in Australia - Jurgen Tampke

Best in the last 2 years, Shantaram
Worst, Scar Tissue : Anthony "Tedious" Kiedis, what a tool.

One of the most inspirational reads I have ever read!
It makes my work to do 111km Hawkesbury Classic Paddle seem insignificant but also has made sure I will beat it and complete it in 2010. About to go to their website and get the DVD now.

Just finished a fantastic non-fiction book my FIL (bit of an old man of the sea) gave me. Ship of Gold In The Deep Blue Sea by Gary Kinder. Fantastic tale of modern day treasure hunters mixed in with the history of the treasure they're searching for. Loved it.

Just finished the latest Ian Rankin book. He needs to bring Rebus out of retirement.

Also read the Snowball, by Alice Schroeder, a bio on Warren Buffett. If nothing else reinforces the power of compounding.

The Right Stuff is his best.

You'd probably like the John Updike Rabbit books as well if you like Wolfe.

Gonna be a slow repatriation process if kayaking is the only way to get 'em to go back home.

Reading "The Wolf of Wall Street" by Jordan Belfort.

A very entertaining account of his rise and fall. Some insane living from a young and rich securities trader.

It'll be scant protection...unless you plan to crawl into bed with my wife

Heard a joke the other day that a guy said that he wanted to get a tattoo of a beautiful woman...his mate said "Where?" and he replied, "On my wife's face!!!"

good read - not very heavy just entertaining,
try Accidental Billionaires - similar 'easy read' type of account of some crazy business and money. And if you like it try Ugly Americans - good story.

At the moment im reading 'The story of Edgar Sawtelle' by David Wroblewski.
Its fairly uninteresting, but Im over half way so I will finish it.
I love reading Wilbur Smith books because of the amount I travel on the train everyday..they really dissasociate myself from the rest of the train population. I can start reading and before I know it I am at Parliament Station.

Also, a good true story book I have read is Marching Powder. (it's probably already been mentioned in this thread) Its about a weird jail in Bolivia written by an Australian Lawyer who was living there with an english drug smuggler. Pretty interesting read.
