Finally... just started to read Sharon Penmans' "The Devils Brood". Focussed mainly on the period of the Plantagenet children - William, Geoffrey, Richard (Lionheart), John etc etc

It's the third (and final) book in the series. I had read the first two a while back and decided to re-read them before starting Brood, as there is a lot of important background stuff that is strongly relevant to the climax in Book 3. That, and it's taken a while to get thru the first two!!! ("When Christ & His Saints Slept", focussed on Henry I and his daughter Matilda and the claim for the English throne by Stephen, and "Time & Chance", largely about Henry II's ascension to the throne and his marriage to Eleanor, Queen Of France and wife of his bitterest rival King Louis Capet).

Historical fiction at it's best. I know quite a bit about Medieval English history, and I love the way she ties in fictional characters to REAL characters and events. She also has a good appendix explaining her reasoning behind those characters' creation, and clearing up some factual issues...

just finished Anatomy of a golf course by Tom Doak and am about to read Masters of the Links with essays by MacKenzie, Tillinghast, Doak, Macdonald & Crenshaw to name a few.

The good thing is at least Mrs. Kingslayer doesn't steal my book to read herself

Went to secondhand book store yesterday and I saw a golf book called "Mulligan". Had to get it (considering my last name is exactly that).

I possess a large collection autobiographies. I'm also into true stories (mainly crime or war related and into grusome type stuff).
Hey, let's pop some Viagras and issue tickets with raging, mega-huge boners.

Funny you should mention that TF because that is next cab off the rank. The old man has recently loaned a selection of classics from one of his mates.

Two golfing books in my collection that I can highly recommend are James Dodson's authorised biography of Ben Hogan and a book called "Tommy's Honour" by Kevin Cook. Tommy's Honour covers the lives and times of Old and Young Tom Morris. Both are great reading.

Bob try get hold of "Third Party to Murder" by Robert Reid. It's about an 'apparent' murder/suicide on the Tablelands in the early 90s. Fascinating stuff. Even more so because I know a few people in the book.

The Climate Caper by Garth Paltridge. Interesting stuff, someone will probably tell me he has been completely discredited?

Great book. I heard the movie is garbage so I'll steer clear.

Currently reading 'David Coperfield' by Edmond Wells.
