Like I said above, it's three....... for now.

    Here's George R R Martin's schedule on his series:
    A Game of Thrones (1996)
    A Clash of Kings (1998)
    A Storm of Swords (2000)
    A Feast for Crows (2005)
A Dance with Dragons (forthcoming) - this was meant to be the last book
    The Winds of Winter (forthcoming)
    A Dream of Spring (forthcoming)

It's not looking good for a finish before 2020.

The hardest part of reading fantasy novels, that are not Lord of the Rings, is having to tell your parents that you are gay.

With the whole Sam and Frodo relationship, surely that includes LoTR?

GRRM is not gunna make it to the end. When AFFC was released 5 years ago he claimed he was splitting the story into 2 and that the second part was so close to done it wouldn't be long for DwD. Fully 2/3 of AFFC didn't need to be written especially all that piss-farting around in Dorne.

GRRM will be dead before this gets wrapped up and possibly before the next book comes out. I'd say he's lost interest in the thing which is a shame. This is possibly my favourite fantasy series.

It was a great series, although the last one was a bit of a struggle. I might go and check on his blog/updates again to see if he's finished another chapter. Usually he's too busy with conferences, other projects and watching NFL.

For some reason, got nothing written today.

When you are resorting to page number updates, you know you are struggling. I wonder if he remembers how the story ends.

Sounds like he got rich and started wondering why he even needs to finish the series?

Publishing companies should hold off all royalties beyond a simple retainer until after the final book is published.

Just finished reading the Fire of Heaven trilogy by Russell Kirkpatrick. Not bad, but some plot twists were groan-worthy and the characters were a bit thin at times. Still, it swept along well enough to make it worth reading and I did enjoy the third book a little more than the first two.

Discovered Tim Winton a few months back. Read 'Breath' and found it pretty damn good. Currently half way through 'Cloudstreet'. I'd guess he wouldn't be everyone's cuppa tea and his style is a bit weird but I'm enjoying it. 'Cloudstreet' sounds a lot like my mum described her childhood. Makes it all the more fascinating.

I decided to take a quick break from geek fiction and grabbed a few classics from a garage sale near my place. Read 'The Old Man and the Sea' by Ernest Hemingway the other night and 'Of Mice and Men' by John Steinbeck the night after that.

Both extremely good. Left me wishing I'd been made to read these two books instead of 'The accidental tourist' (which wasn't terrible, it just wasn't in the same league as these two) in high school.

I have just recently re-read Blade Runner 2 - The Edge of Human. It was written by a different author to the one who originally wrote "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep" (original author now deceased) on which the Blade Runner movie was based.

It's a good read and I would recommend it to anyone who is a fan of the Blade Runner movie.

Really good characters that are more than just good/evil cardboard cutouts.

I'll stop gushing. Go and get yourself a copy of The Briar King.
Done, and I'm now reading book three. Good stuff.

I understand, you're drunk and planning a trip to Tunisia. It's hard to come up with pithy quips when your mind is on other things.
