HMB has enough challenges without foisting him on them.

There is conflicting reports, some say he already formally applied, others say his mate only asked about him applying.

The latter may be true, but why would someone ask first... since when does anyone do that. Boards rejecting membership applications is very rare.

The club has confirmed that no application has been made so that report is proven to be untrue. I would recommend assuming the latter is also not true and just some made up bullshit.

from all accounts yes and anyway isn’t Portsea public? Don’t have to be a member.

if it was Sorrento or The National he was trying to get into I would sort of understand but he has some pretty prominent contacts at those clubs to just walk in.

Are you being a smart alec or a dope? Truly cant tell, which is a compliment! I already posted that just a handful of messages above.

But we dont have to worry about Dan, plenty Chinese owned golf courses that will welcome him.

Well its a page ago now.

Lefty has set the standard for cranky. Nobody else comes close. The rest of us barely qualify as bemused.

No formal application was made, that is correct. Apparently Beck sussed out some friends at Portsea expecting their support, but it spectacularly backfired and one of them leaked the info to the press.

Andrews would be zero chance of getting into either the National or Sorrento.

He has always been an insufferable ****.

In the article cited there is no quote from Beck that he was the one that made any approaches. There are quotes of him reacting to reports, or maybe even the idea, the an application had or would be rejected. These are not the same thing.
The amount of rumour, speculation, and outright lies published by the H-S in the last decade is enormous. Scepticism of any uncited source or quote or article without a named byline is recommended.

All it takes is a few members to go against the application and he's no chance.Side note, fairly sure I saw him in a car when I was down a few weeks ago. Wasn't driving and looked like two other cars with suited up bodyguards behind. Great way to keep milking the coffers if he has a three car 5-6 people deep security detail.. jeebus.

Pretty fair and standard to draw a decent security detail for a time after leaving office.

Correct.Especially for Andrews, who had death threats aimed at him during his time in Parliament.Protective Services have hundreds of AFP badged bodyguards that travel the world with Pollies. The best story is a mate who was at the Ashes this year, spent the day drinking heavily with his assigned member of the opposition. All at our expense of course

Are you Nostradamus? the National members are now having a crack at him too. Heres the latest from yesterday.
    https://www.news.com.au/sport/golf/d...545ec9aa14260d
“It is imperative that any potential member, including Mr Andrews, aligns with the fundamental values of our golf club – demonstrating good character, sociability, and a genuine interest in meeting and befriending fellow members.
“Regrettably, it is noted that Mr Andrews lacks these qualities, and his inability to recall scores for each hole due to poor memory further underscores concerns about his compatibility with our club.”

thou doth protest too much! the Herald Sun was the first out with the story, but did not quote Max Beck. the original source for the quotes is in the article published 24 hours later with the usual preamble to set the context of their interview question. Maybe journos dont have to cite the source of their own interviews - i dunno.
Still waiting for Max Beck to deny the accusations - surely there is some Dan friendly media out there that would be busting a gut to repair the damage to his character.
