    Default Budget Beginner Set Up

I'm 54, retired, I have health issues and need to exercise but I find walking boring so I'm going to take up golf - chasing a ball around will be more interesting than just walking.

My main question - I'm 6'2, will normal clubs be okay for me?

I'm looking for a starter set, being on a pension I don't have a lot to spend and I live out bush so anything I get I need to mail order.
Golf Clearance Outlet have this set for $369 - Driver, 3 Wood, 5 Hybrid, 6, 7, 8, 9 Irons, PW (Steel Shafts) Putter, Stand Bag & 3 x Headcover.
Would that be a good enough set to get me going and I better gear as I progress?

    G’ay Smidsy,

If you’ve never played before, that set will do the job.

I can’t talk about how club length will affect you, there are certain advantages to being entirely average.

    Welcome aboard.

It depends. As you are starting out to play golf you are going to need some sort of help to get started, whether that be lessons from a golf pro, a beginners clinic, or your mates that play golf that know nothing ( but think they are experts). So direct this question at those people first.

You could also get in touch with Sandy Jamieson (somewhere in Melbourne) who specialises in beginners having fun at learning golf, using just one club. Www.1club.golf
