Ordered 3 new SM7 wedges yesterday. 50/54/60 in Jet Black. 50 will have a dynamic gold X100 shaft and the other 2 will have S300's in them. Slightly longer and a flatter lie. Very keen. Will go well with the new irons (when they arrive).

Me too. I've been meaning to add these to my burgeoning library for a while, was just waiting for a free shipping special from Booktopia. Between these five and my subscription to The Golfer's Journal I've got plenty of golf reading to do.

    Hey Rick,

Been a while. Hope you're well mate. I can confirm after 45 holes with it that the 910 D3 with Ahina 70 S seems just as long my G400 Max with Kuro Kage Silver 60 X. It would lose out a little on forgiveness, as you'd expect from the smaller 445cc head that's also nine years older than the G400 Max. I got fitted by Ping for the G400 Max in August last year and it's been in the bag ever since. Love it, however not sure if the shaft is still right for me. My swing has changed a bit and the KK 60 X can feel a bit loose at times. The G400 Max launches high (like all Ping G models), but I don't think spin is an issue with it as it doesn't usually balloon on me. In any case, I'm enjoying the flatter, more boring ball flight of the 910 D3, and the Ahina 70 S feels quite a bit more stable for me. Have thought about getting a standard model G400 or the LST model too, but the Max seems to be the preferred model for many. I'll probably look for a heavier shaft to try in it. But there's just something about playing a modern vintage club like the 910 D3. A mate of mine has started using a TM R7 over his Cobra F7; another has gone back to his 910 D2 from his 917 D2 and a 2017 M2.

Very interesting... G400 misses are still playable where the misses with the 910 were not so good..
I wouldn't mind trialing a shorter heavier shaft in the ping too

Well my new clubs arrived today! So bloody happy with them. The weight compared to my old ones feels absolutely fantastic, plus they look amazing. Mizuno MP-20 MMC in 4-6, MP-20 in 7-P and SM7 in 50/54/60. New bounce and lie angle on my wedges and noticed a difference straight away.

It was just under 10 working days. I ordered them on a Friday and picked them up on Wednesday. So was probably 7 business days between ordering and getting them. The Vokey’s only took 4 business days, they were ready today also.

Well only hit a few with the 8i and 3i HMB but they’re insanely good. Can’t wait to get them on the course now.

Interested to know what profile shaft you normally play Pete and wether you used the new Mizuno Optimiser 3D to get that shaft?

I’ve generally been fitted into PX6.0/DGS300 type profiles in the past but this time I too got fit into the PX LZ 5.5. The numbers weren’t lying during the fitting but I may have been a little concerned it may have been too soft.

After hitting them last night on the range it was exciting to see the LZ perform just as they did during the fitting.
