Hi,
I'm a club maker and have gone the way of Callaway i-Mix driver heads and shafts so I can personally see how different shafts affect the ball flight in different i-Mix driver heads.
I currently have Callaway i-Mix drivers:and arriviing next week:
- FT-9 10*
- FT-9 Tour 10.5*
- FT-i 10*
Current i-Mix shafts are:
- FT-iQ 10*
- FT-iQ Tour 9.5*
and i-Mix shafts coming next week:
- Grafalloy EPIC 68-R
- Aldila DVS 65-R
and I have the Aldila VooDoo RVS6 shaft coming that I will install into an i-Mix sleeve.
- Fubuki 60 Reg
- Fubuki 63 Reg
- ZCom Reg x2 (shafts to be pulled for sleeves)
What I'm finding is that shafts influence the ball flight just as much as the driver head. A shaft that is perfect in one i-Mix head maybe be horrible in another, it all relates to ball spin rates created by each seperately.
For me, the DVS 65-R is perfect in either of the FT-9 i-Mix heads but creates too much ball spin in the FT-i. The FT-i launches the ball higher due to higher spin rates in both the head and shaft.
The EPIC 68-R is perfect in the FT-i, but in the FT-9 I loose ball carry because it's lower ball spin characteristics that launches the ball lower.
I think the FT-iQ Tour 9.5* with either DVS 65-R or VooDoo RVS6 and the FT-iQ 10* with EPIC 68-R will be perfect combinations, both straight and long.
Early next year in February 2010, I will be bringing in the Callaway i-Mix FT-iZ driver, can't wait.

Hi,
Well, the Mizuno MX-300 maybe designed for someone just like me.
I'm 55 have played off 4 to 7 for about 20 years, 4.7 hcp after today.
I got some MP-30 irons and didn't think my ball striking was good enough for the clubs, may have been the DG R300 shafts, I don't hit the ball high.
Sold the MP-30 and purchased the MX-25 a couple of years back and whilst I really liked them, found they had too much offset and my usual game is a draw. I loved the forged feel.
Sold the MX-25 and purchased Callaway X-20 Tour, minimal offset and being a largish head, gave me the confidence I was looking for. I don't think I'll sell the X-20 Tour, keep incase my game goes off, they've served me very well.
I import J36 Pocket Cavity irons from USA and sell in Australia, hand picked a set with PXF 5.0, all clubs are dead on D3, but thought the PXF shafts wouldn't suit me, I really need a higher launching shaft. Decided not to use the J36 PC's, still sitting in the corner unused.
I researched GolfWRX and really liked the MX-300 reviews and decided to buy a set BRAND NEW from USA, for the 3-PW TT XP R300 cost me about A$600 landed. What generally happens, I then list and see if they sell before I use.
This time I decided to take the plastic off the heads, big move for me.
Well, I took them out on my local course the other day and as others have said, WoooooooW, shot a 1 over par 73 with 3 bogies and 2 birdies.
Today I shot a 76, hitting MX-300's superbly but wayward drives cost me 3 shots in the last 5 holes, was 1 over thru 13 holes.
The MX-300 whilst looking like a players club, give awesome performance for centre struck balls and OK results for off centre hits, but still with reasonable results.
Our 6th hole is about 390 metres long and has this huge gum tree that stands about 50 metres high on the right ride of the fairway and catches many balls. I hit a reasonable drive, but as the fairways have been resown with couch and heavily water, we're not getting any run at the moment.
I was on the right hand side of the fairway and 170 metres from the pin. I decided to select a 4 iron and finished up hitting the ball over the huge gum tree and landed in the greenside bunker on the full, it was a great shot for the height I had to hit.
Overall, I'm excited and estatic how the MX-300 performed, I hit mainly solid shots and the occasional bad contact still had the ball going towards the green with slight loss of distance.
I love the feel of the #8 to PW with the Power Bar, when you've made centre contact, you hear a nice click that's pleasing.

I think it must be something to do with being a clubfitter and making really long posts with LOTS of DIFFERENT types of exclaimations.
DaMAN and TF need to sit down and have a cup of tea together.
Hi,
Posters that provide little more than a 1 or 2 line posts providing very little information create an unnecessary number of posts because the repliers generally have to keep posting to get the complete story.
It's always made sense to me to post the whole story rather than bit-and-pieces that others can't be bothered filtering through pages of a thread.
If the posting does tend to be on the longer side, I will always highlight important points that shouldn't get missed.
If I bore you with my posts just say so, I have plenty of other forums that respect what I say and can do, I don't have time to waste, get my point..

Never said anything about boring us, my good man, merely pointing out a similarity in the posting styles of yourself and our fwend Tourfit.
Your information is appreciated. As is your love of emoticons.
Hi,
Sorry m8, I aplogise for taking your post the wrong way, I didn't know who TF was so therefore I'm not familar with TF's posts. Like my posts, you lucky devils, I thought they broke my mould, well, it probably got dropped while I was still in it.
I'm just having a bad day, got 3 interesting Bang Bangster driver head builds going on involving spining, FLO'ing, oversize lengths plus the 14* is going to be used a fairway wood.
I'm just trying to get them 100% perfect especially the 2x 7.5* drivers being made to 47"+ in length, makes it more interesting.
I treat ever club build as if it's mine and unfortunately I'm a perfectionist.

Do you get good prices on those Cally FT-iq iMix drivers?
Naturally grippy
Hi,
Depending on A$ > US$ currency conversion at time of paying and number of items in shipment to spread shiiping cost, FT-iQ or FT-iQ Tour i-Mix drivers with stock shaft, headcover and wrench in excellent condition (not new) for between A$220 to $250.
The more items in shipment to spread shipping cost, the cheaper I can sell each for.
I work on IN-and-OUT, don't like keeping stock long at all unless A$ is going to drop, then I buy.

Topped my first drive, was a little too excited, after that it was all good. Feels a bit like the J33 I had for a while, but better, firmer. Has a really nice ping of the face. Nice sound to.
The ball flight is penetrating, which is what I have been chasing. Very happy atm.
Honeymoon period.
Probably but for 100 US dorra it is not going to be a costly divorce.
