    Default Getting fitted for irons

I’ve decided to get properly fit for some new irons.

I’ve had the original P790s since 2017 and think I’ll go for the 2023 versions. As a mid single figure marker I’ve had a few people suggest the smaller P770s but I don’t see how more forgiveness or distance will hurt?

Am I looking for performance over feel in shafts?

I know that sounds like a daft question, but everyone I know says I should be in heavy X flex shafts at my swing speed, but I don’t like the telegraph pole feel, I like to feel the shaft load and unload and also prefer a higher flight.

Given it’s on a trackman I won’t really see flight apex

Any suggestions on what I ask, and how to approach the fitting?

A quality fitter will ask you a bunch of questions in order to ascertain what will suit you and your wants.

A fitter should NOT by recommending X flex based on clubhead speed alone.

    Thanks for the feedback guys!

My intention was to describe how i like the shaft to feel (as i feel the same with both irons and driver - i used a AD DI 7X in my driver, but i can feel it load. When i use say a Hzrduz hulk that feels like a bit of re bar i hate it) then be open to suggestions.

It’s the first time the length and lie will be custom too.

Ha! I was gonna suggest Modus 120 on account of higher flight and you want to feel load/unload but didnt want get blamed for bad info

I beleive is stiff tip soft midsection and launches higher, but soft butt, whatever that does.

Yes that’s my understanding too.I like the feel, the spin was consistently 6000rpm with my 7 iron, and I wasn’t turning them over too much. When we dropped to the lighter weights the ball went left.

Love my modus 120 TX. I recently tried project X 6.5, and the LZ 6.5 and modus were quicker and straighter.
