Tyrrell's 2002 Vat 1 Hunter Semillon... anyone tried this? I quite enjoyed it the last time I was up in HV. I was also told the 2005 will be much better... might have to put a few of these bad boys down.

zig my boy,
cheers for the cimicky. arrived safe and sound Friday. Trying to decide whether or not it gets opened tonight.
I hope I don't love it, because I won't be able to get any more.

None of them are really ready yet ad but if like me you can't wait, the Landrace followed by the Grenache are showing the best now. The as if will really benefit from a couple more years of sternly holding yourself back. .
Hmmm, I bought these as testers with a view to buy some more to sit on.

Might go the Filsell 06 then

Actually probably hit the Cimicky, unless you can suggest something ready to drink from the list over at TGF andi

The Filsell is a near perfect example of Barossa shiraz, old vines, long slow ripening, a slow ferment & a good dollop of American oak. YUM!!
The glaymonds will all be much better though, they'll need just need some time.
OK, I will sit on the Glaymonds

I think all wines are ready to drink once they are in my possesion ad.
If you're looking to put some away then drink the wine over 24 hours. Open, decant and taste, noting your impressions, re taste every 4-6 hours looking for what the changes are, how is it evolving? fruit fading fast? then drink it within a year or two. After more time the secondary flavours start developing in the mid palate (chocolate, tobacco, leather etc) it could probably do with 3 or 4 years in a dark place. More time & the tannins are softening & the wine's becoming a smoother, denser, richer more intergrated wine, you're maybe looking at a keeper, 5 to 10.
Cut all cellar reco's in half (except mine ) buy big glasses, decant and swirl. The only thing worse than drinking a wine too young is waiting too long and drinking a flabby, thin shadow of what it might have been.
andi, that is a great post. Cheers.
FWIW, went with the 06 Cimicky. Oh my lord, what a wine. Zig, top pick, thanks mate.

Good info andigold, only downside is that you need to buy a case of each wine... actually what's the downside again?

you should try and source the o6 signature series shiraz from cimicky
Links look good, based on last night a mixed dozen of 06 and 07 could be a go.

Just had a call from Summerfield.
The 07 Shiraz are being released, apparently Halliday has rated the Vintage in the top 6 Shiraz in the country. They sell them to mailing list members first for $19 for the Vintage and $36 for the Reserve.
Decisions, decisions

Love their reserve shiraz, it would be in my top 10 wines over the last 5 years.
This may sound really crazy to you guys.
