Tyrrell's 2002 Vat 1 Hunter Semillon... anyone tried this? I quite enjoyed it the last time I was up in HV. I was also told the 2005 will be much better... might have to put a few of these bad boys down.

None of them are really ready yet ad but if like me you can't wait, the Landrace followed by the Grenache are showing the best now. The as if will really benefit from a couple more years of sternly holding yourself back. .

The Filsell is a near perfect example of Barossa shiraz, old vines, long slow ripening, a slow ferment & a good dollop of American oak. YUM!!

The glaymonds will all be much better though, they'll need just need some time.

I think all wines are ready to drink once they are in my possesion ad.

If you're looking to put some away then drink the wine over 24 hours. Open, decant and taste, noting your impressions, re taste every 4-6 hours looking for what the changes are, how is it evolving? fruit fading fast? then drink it within a year or two. After more time the secondary flavours start developing in the mid palate (chocolate, tobacco, leather etc) it could probably do with 3 or 4 years in a dark place. More time & the tannins are softening & the wine's becoming a smoother, denser, richer more intergrated wine, you're maybe looking at a keeper, 5 to 10.

Cut all cellar reco's in half (except mine ) buy big glasses, decant and swirl. The only thing worse than drinking a wine too young is waiting too long and drinking a flabby, thin shadow of what it might have been.

Had been one of my staples for a number of years.

I hope there is enough of the 07 around so i can get my hands on some, should be more concentrated with a smaller dryer harvest.

Grant Burge Filsell is a fantastic wine, no where near the cimicky imo and a lot of bottle variation in my experience with it

Just had a call from Summerfield.

The 07 Shiraz are being released, apparently Halliday has rated the Vintage in the top 6 Shiraz in the country. They sell them to mailing list members first for $19 for the Vintage and $36 for the Reserve.

Love their reserve shiraz, it would be in my top 10 wines over the last 5 years.

This may sound really crazy to you guys.

How i tell how a wine will cellar, i keep smelling the glass after the last drop has gone the good ones smell gooood the not so good ones you can smell the bad bits in em.
