    Default Low band width portal

    Hi Guys,

Anyone else interested in a low band width version of the site you could use on slow connections or mobile devices and still have the normal portal when your on you pc.

    eg
    -no banners
    -images don't auto load
    -no graphics

was thinking the same thing, when i browse Ozgolf using my mobile (WM5) it seems to download a hellava lot of data, and the way the layout appears is crap.

I am sure there is a plugin somewhere?

You could just achieve it with a stripped-down style. There are bound to be a heap out there, otherwise it shouldn't take more than a few hours to knock one up.

Although a subdomain like http://m.ozgolf.net is generally a handy thing to have, to stop having to switch styles when you go back to your PC.

It sounds like it could be handy.

I did some quick googling and it seemed rather simple (for someone that knows what they are doing)

The first one is what I linked above.
I couldn't see anything on the second link.
    The third is from 2004.

maybe a web programmer could help out, do you know anyone?

Andyp, I learnt a new word today, its called "W3C". Thats what we need here.

We need the W3C here? You realise the C stands for Consortium?

I would offer my services as a web dude, but with that comes obligation and responsibility. I wouldn't want to mess with a live site, but I doubt any admin would be willing to provide a snapshot of the current site's database and root dir to tinker with.

    At least i wouldn't.

I can look at installing the mod linked above, but a couple of days turnaround is unrealistic. In fact a couple of weeks is. The demand doesn't appear to be overwhelming either, but it's at the top of the pretty much non-existent list with an upgrade to the software overall (the next subversion has been released for a while).
