Go on down and wade in ... see what happens.

It's the only way to be 100% sure , right ?

It's a little known fact that the Lake Shark is closely related to the Drop Bear.

Apparently there is a number of little one, but one big one has been spotted, recently. Being that close to the river I think it could be possible. I suppose it just like there are small sharks in West lakes in Adelaide. These of which have been caught by fisherman.

I have played at Carbrook for over 15 years, member for the last 8. I can honestly say that I have never seen a shark in any of the lakes around the course.

I was recently asked if I believed that they are in there. My answer was simply "I'm a scientist, I don't believe anything I can't prove". Having said that, I don't doubt those that say they have seen one. I have never seen that video footage in the link provided, but it appears pretty conclusive.

BTW, must have been a monthly medal that day. We never play a back pin position on the 15th for any other reason. Narrow back there, sucker pin!

Also, there are claims that they have migrated through the creek system into the lake next to the first tee/practise putting green.

Sharks are all over the place, now and then someone will see one or get bitten.

Those Bull sharks are getting a bad reputation though

I have seen the shark on a few occasions. Best time is a calmer day and will either be hanging around the the 15th near the 100 markers or between the 13th green and 14th tee. Played carbrook three times a week for over a year and was lucky enough to see it for myself other wise i would not have beleived it either.

I have played at Carbrook for 7 odd years and look for the shark on 15 every week and have never seen it, up until those pic/videos I thought people were getting the shark mixed up with the huge mullet.

The stories I've heard from long time members is that the sharks were washed in when the river flooded the lake, the course use to have a lot of flooding problems before they lifted it approx 1.8m. I have also heard that there is more than one shark.

Bull sharks are the worst bastards in the water after Great Whites.
They will travel much further upstream than any other shark and can survive extended periods in fresh water.

Lucky the shark isn't in Sydney, the Telegraph would have paid someone to catch and kill it by now !

Everyone refers to the sharks as an "it".

Look at the size of that lake, there would have to be more than one in there?

They have to eat something - I would suggest that if there is one big one it would have chomp chomped through its smaller rivals.
It's not that big a body of water for a larger fish...say 5-6 foot. They would want a fair bit of food product I would say.
    Cheers

You should see the size of some of the fish the cormorants pull out of the pond beside the Red 1 tee box at Indooroopilly!

Easily large enough to feed a shark, and in a lake far, far smaller than the one at Carbrook.

Trust me there is plenty of food in there, from schools of small fish, mud crabs, 2+ foot flat heads to 3+ foot mullet.
The club has a fishing club you can join for free if your a member, they camp near the driving range (opposite side of the lake to the video) and fish over long weekends and stuff.

There is plenty of fish. Also a lot of river Carp in there, great for muck sucking bottom dwellers.
