    How did you go?
Overall, my game slipped a bit more, but I still play well enough to not embarrass myself too often.
Did you achieve what you wanted to achieve?
    Did you reach your goal/s?

Didn't have any major goals, although I did make an effort to improve my putting and bunker play.
Did your golf game go backwards or forwards?
    Backwards, but not too much.
Any there any outstanding experiences from the year, that you'd like to share?
Highlight for the year was playing 6 rounds in 3 days on the Mornington Peninsular with rok.
Did you play some great courses?
Yeah! Brookwater x lots, The Dunes, Portsea, Moonah Links Open & Legends, National Moonah & Old, Lakelands, North Lakes, Tasmania, Launceston, Coolangatta-Tweed, St Michaels, Sands at Torquay and next week it's Hope Island..

    ---------------
    And next year:
What are your goals for 2005?
Try and play twice a month in a comp somewhere. Need to get hcap out to where I can play to it. Probably around 9.
    Got any golfing holidays planned?
    Tasmania
Have a particular course lined up to play?

    What a year that wasn't...

Tell us about how your year in golf went: Started the year off 16.something - playing off 17. Had a late-year round at Casino and had 40-odd points. On NYE 2003/4 I played the City vs Country and didn't do too well (1.5 points out of total 4 possible, Ryder Cup style scoring).

Jan 27 had about 40 points, handicap now 16.0 and looking good. Then i developed wicked hooking with my irons, i could be 100 out and miss the green 20 left. Had a lesson, which taught me some drastic quick fixes, and as a result lost the handle on the rest of my game (a la Liverpool ISG day mid-year).

It's been a long 6 months getting confidence back, but now getting close to it - but basically i've gone in reverse since Jan '04. Handicap now 17.6 - playing off 18, playing TO ......

Did you achieve what you wanted to achieve: Set no goals, therefore no real disappointments
Did your golf game go backwards or forwards:
Any there any outstanding experiences from the year, that you'd like to share: Meeting Dion/Golfer69/Vegas. That sums up my golfing year..
Did you play some great courses: St Michael's was a treat, that's about the limit.
Lucy Harris smart smart smart, Martin Harris dumb.

    How did you go?
I don't think I started out with any specific goals at the start of the year. I guess consistency is always something I aim for, but once again I haven't found it. In fact, I can't remember a more inconsistent year.

Started the year with a handicap of 15.8. Played some good rounds at the beginning of the year, and managed to qualify for a matchplay comp at Nambour. Topped it off in April with my first sub-80 round (twice in a week) and winning the McLeod Cup (first comp win, first time on an honour board). Handicap hit an all time low of 12.7, and I set myself a goal to play off 12 before the end of the year.

Then the slump began. My guess is, that after the win, I started to think about my swing a little too much and as a result it fell apart. I had enough trouble hitting the ball, let alone hitting it straight. Fortunately, the slump bottomed out during the infamous 17pt Brookwater round.

After this, I made a slight adjustment, regained some confidence in my swing, and feel that I have been hitting the ball better since. I finished runner up in my first matchplay comp, returned my best club champs scores to date (still not that impressive), won a visitor's comp at Northlakes, broke the 80 barrier at Nambour for the first time and have stopped the handicap from going out. Played plenty of good rounds in the latter half of the year, but unfortunately they haven't counted towards my handicap. Handicap currently stands at 13.3, but I am still trying my darndest to get it down to 12.4 before 2005.

Did your golf game go backwards or forwards?
For the year as a whole, I believe my golf game has come forwards. Got some nice additions to the bag to help me along too.
    -----
Did you play some great courses?
I consider myself lucky that I have played as much golf as I have this year, as I never would have expected to play so many rounds. I just got further infected by the golfing bug, thanks to you lot.

Played some great courses during the year, across 4 states/territories including Bonnie Doon (NSW), Federal (ACT), Yowani (ACT), National Ocean & Old(Vic), Narooma (NSW), Brookwater (Qld), Bribie Island (Qld), Coolongatta-Tweed (NSW) and Glades (Qld), with Hope Island (Qld) and Ocean Shores (NSW) lined up before the end of the year.
The most enjoyable this year being National Old.
    -----
What are your goals for 2005?
Next year, I don't think I will be able to play as much golf, so I don't want to be greedy with my goals. Wouldn't mind getting the handicap down to 11 (maybe even 10), and then consistently (there's that word again) playing to it.

    Got any golfing holidays planned?
Have a particular course lined up to play?

I will be visiting my parents in Swan Hill next year, which is 5 minutes down the road from Murray Downs GC (NSW). So I will be playing that for sure, as well as trying to get to a few other Murray courses.
Wouldn't mind trying Horsham, but 3.5hrs drive for a round of golf might be too far (although I did a similar thing this year). I also might be able to get in a couple of quality Melbourne rounds too.
I should be playing Lakelands early in the year also.

Compared to 2003, not very good!!!
Social Golf was Normal...(tho I think I lost more balls this year compared to last)...
Comp Golf was CRAP!!! Score wise, it was a huge letdown from last year's showing...

Did you achieve what you wanted to achieve?
Is this spose to be different from the goal/s question???

    Did you reach your goal/s?
Nope - wanted to lop off 3 strokes (unrealistic) off my hcp...managed to get 1 off, but now back to where I started this year...
Nope - poor showing in Club Champs and Club Open
Yup - first showing at Capital Club Open, managed to sneak in for 10th Posi
Yup - finally won a Gross Comp

Did your golf game go backwards or forwards?
During the year, it went backwards actually...very poor form during the competition rounds...

Any there any outstanding experiences from the year, that you'd like to share?
    Hole In One..
Went head to head with a fellow golfer, Won Gross by shooting 70 (bogey the last) to his 72 at the AGM Captain's Trophy
2nd Place in Sponsored Comp, splitting 2 National Players

Did you play some great courses?
    Nope!!!

    ---------------
What are your goals for 2005?
Lop off at least 2 strokes off my hcp
Top 10 at Club Open (at least)
Top 10 at one other Club Open (playing at least 2)
Making it into the second round of Club Champs
    Couple more Gross Comp Wins

    Got any golfing holidays planned?
    Always...
    Brisbane, Perth and Sydney...
    Malaysia on an ad-hoc basis...

Have a particular course lined up to play?
as long as it has 18 holes, I'll play anywhere...

An excellent year for me. I wanted a 20% reduction in handicap - from 31 that took me to 24.8. I reached that by mid-year and then decided to go for 20! I'm at 21 - so close, but still I'm super-happy with this year's achievements.

3 outstanding experiences come to mind - first, winning the B-grade champs 2nd - dealing with a whole rules issue in the matchplay. It wasn't pleasant - but taught me a lot about the rules and what I should do! 3rd - winning the OzGolf Most Improved Player of 2004

I played a lot more different courses this year thanks to open comps with the OzG guys and our trip to the Sunshine Coast (thanks to AndyP, blakey, Andylo, Kee and everyone else who we played golf with!).

Next year's plan is to get to 18 handicap and play consistently to it - I'm a bit all over the shop right now - driver could go anywhere! That's a pain, but I'm working through it.

For once we have no golfing holidays planned for 2005 and for the first time since we took up golf, we are going on a holiday without our golf clubs . Not sure how we will handle the withdrawl I'm hoping to go to a conference down in Melb in July - looking forward to have a game with Ben and get fitted on his launch monitor (and possibly for some new irons if I can get to my new handicap by then).

No particular plans for golf courses - anything with 18 holes and a bar that serves cold drinks afterwards is great!

    How did you go?
A few up and down... whenever I am going to made my goal then I failed myself. At least I break 100, twice.... in the (probably) easiest par72 course but what the hell

Did you achieve what you wanted to achieve?
No.... I was wanting to break 100 after 6 month I took up and break 90 now. But....

    Did you reach your goal/s?
    As above

Did your golf game go backwards or forwards?
I dunno.... I had wait better long iron shot but I lost them now.... yet again I used to unable to hit a good tee shot but I have a few monster time to time nowadays. I think it goes very slightly forward in a way.

Any there any outstanding experiences from the year, that you'd like to share?
Hmm.... shot 95 in LGC. Oh... I remeber that when Terry gave me the biggest encouragment on couple of big drive I had in Indoorpilly... thanks Tez.

I don't really have outstanding experiences on my golfs performance but other things.... meet a very great friend, Kee; Meet a bunch of great people, (i.e. Onewood, Tez, jarro, nudgee, Macca, AndyP and a lot) a few very good day out with OZGer and so on so forth... just make my days in the past year

Did you play some great courses?
Brooky, The Glades, NorthLake, Indoorpilly, Robina Wood, and today, Lakelands. Also a lot of others

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Looking forward on 2005
    - I will practise a lot of putting and chipping. For god sake I just can't putt to save my live

    - So when I achieve that, I want to have my handicap down to 15-lish by the end of 2005

    - More solid and compact posture for quick swing and impact

    - Able to conrtol my driver to hit either draw, fade and straight.

    - Hit 280mts more often

    How did you go?

Golf was very different, Had good fun in the Auz longdrive comps ,Concentrated mainly on that, instead of golf

Did you achieve what you wanted to achieve?

    basically No,

    Did you reach your goal/s?

No, my handicap went out and I didn't hit the grid like I should have in longdrive, But see good improvement so hopefully next year!!

Did your golf game go backwards or forwards?

Backwards but that's OK! more determined than ever for 05 (bring down the handicap to single figures say 6 or 7 and stop the nerves in LD comps)

Are there any outstanding experiences from the year, that you'd like to share?

Yes, some how I did what everybody told me to do and start a golf business, and I hit a duck on a lake in longdrive and then lost my grip and threw my club down the strip in front of every body, That's all I'm prepared to tell,.. ha ha

Did you play some great courses?

    Royal Pines, Glades,Lakeland's,Palm Meadows

Have a great Christmas everyone and take care ( My motto;; Hav'in Fun Smash'in Balls)

Tell us about how your year in golf went:
Well.... Overall an unbelievable year for me.... My aim was to get to single figures after first starting on 14hcp 5 years ago and being on 12hcp at the begining of 2004. I acheived this in February getting down to 9hcp. I entered my first Long Drive event in May and the rest of that is History, I won Club Champs at Gold Coast country Club for the 2nd year running as well as matchplay champ. Runner up at Windaroo Club Champs (by 2 measley strokes) and matchplay champ there too.
    How did you go?
    See above...
Did you achieve what you wanted to achieve?
I did achieve most things I set out to do... most but one....
    Did you reach your goal/s?
One of my goals this year was to improve on my previous years position at the State titles... Last year I came 8th... I wanted top 5 this year, however, due to the new handicap I was put up a grade into silver (0-9hcp) and eventually finished 28th....
Did your golf game go backwards or forwards?
In the last 2 months my game has slipped.... I think everything has come to the end of the year and I have slackened off alot....
Any there any outstanding experiences from the year, that you'd like to share?
Well, y'all know about the trip to USA for World Domination gone astray...
Did you play some great courses?
Royal Pines, Tamborine Mountain, Robina Woods, Brookwater, Bribie Island, Windaroo, Gold Coast Country Club, Arundel Hills, Coolangatta-Tweed, Surfers Paradise, Gailes, Caloundra, Mt Warren, Royal Qld, Twin Towns, Palm Meadows, Victoria Park, McLeod, Boomerang Farm, Gainsborogh, Murwillumbah, Ocean Shores, Kooralbyn, Logan City, Hills International, Glades, Carbrook, Riverlakes, Tenterfeild, Emerald Lakes, Southport, Parkwood, Sanctuary Cove (Pines & Palms) and Hope Island. I have played all these courses this year in Varying open days, Pennants and invitations.
    ---------------
    And next year:
What are your goals for 2005?
I want to get down to 5 or less by July 2005 and improve some of the results I have had at WGQ (Womens Golf Queensland) events, plus defend National Long Drive Title and better the result in the USA.
    Got any golfing holidays planned?
I have been invited to represent Australia in the International Long Drive event in Cuba, Canada and Japan. Does this count ?
Have a particular course lined up to play?
I have yet to play at Lakelands and Gold Coast Burleigh.... I wanna play there next year if not squeeze it in this year....

    I hope this answers everything.....

    How did you go?

It was a let down of a year for me - I moved from Maroochydore to Shellharbour in February and joined Shellharbour Links, which cut my golfing days from 2 a week to 1. It also deprived me of a driving range, so I didn't bother with a lot of practice.... as a result, my golf really suffered. Since then, I left Shellharbour in September, and have not joined anywhere in Sydney yet, so I have played only two/three times in the last three months.... I probably will only get another game or two in before Christmas....

    Did you reach your goal/s?

I didn't reach my main goal, which was to get my handicap down from 27 to 18.... (on 25.8 now) so that goal will be carried forward to next year.

However, I did manage to improve my putting - and now am averaging nearly 3 or 4 putts less per game.

I also made the Holden Scramble Regional finals for the second year in a row - so I am now 2 for 2....

Did your golf game go backwards or forwards?

Overall I would say backwards, but certainly I improved some elements.... despite it not translating to better scores, Matt assures me that my ball striking and putting have improved more than he had thought they would.

Any there any outstanding experiences from the year, that you'd like to share?

I shot my lowest ever stroke score of 94 (nett 66) in August and won my first monthly medal.

I think that the highlights of my year were: meeting up with a bunch of you Qld guys at Horton Park back in February, meeting up with a bunch of the NSW guys (and gal) at Shellharbour in September.

Having a game at NSWGC with Marcel last week... and only shooting 6 over my handicap when Matt had told me that 150 was not out of the question. :P

Did you play some great courses?

I played NSWGC - I loooove this course - I am gonna rob a bank so that I can afford to join..... I think that this is the greatest golf course that I have ever been priviledged enough to swing a club on.....

other than that.... not really - Camden Lakeside would have been nice except for the torrential rain....

That's about it for the year - it has been both personally and professionally a disaster for Matt and myself, and we are both looking forward to a much better 2005..... [/b]
    Cheers,
    Golfgirl

    How did you go?

Not bad I guess.....My hcp fluxuated pretty bad, started the year at 1.7, got as high as 4, now back at 2.8......Just no time to work on the game, but overall, I'm not losing any sleep about it, cause I don't play in any NET events anyway.

Had a few top 5's in some decent events, played pretty good in pennants, lost our national Uni Championships in a playoff in Dec 03, and was top 10 again this year. Stunk the joint up at the Autumn Record in Newcastle, but am looking forward to playing in the NSW Medal next month, as well as the Belmont.

    Did you achieve your goals>?

Frankly, I really don't set any goals in golf. I don't put in enough time to really improve, and am not going to lose any sleep with changes in my game. If I shoot 65 or 95 in a tournament, it makes no difference......Sorry I don't have a more exciting answer......

I guess one goal could be winning the Aussie University title, but again, third straight year with our team in second. That sucked. But other then that, I don't really have any individual goals set from last year, or for next.

Did your game go forwards or backwards?

Holding pattern......some days great, some days not so great......same number of rounds in the 60's as the 80's.......

    Great experiences?

Winning the Eastern University Games event was great. But the best was getting home to Canada and playing every day for 2 weeks with my Dad and brother who I hadn't seen in 2 years. THAT was the absolute highlight of my year, not just in golf. It was great to see how much Adam has improved after 2 full seasons as a TOUR Pro.....I'm now VERY happy I didn;t think too long about trying that life...They are too good.....

    Great courses?

In Australia (Top 100 rankings in brackets) NSWGC (#3), Newcastle (#10), The Australian (#11), Royal Canberra (#15), The Lakes (#16), Royal Sydney (#17), Terrey Hills (#26), Concord (#33), The Vintage (#41), Horizons (#47), St. Michaels (#54), Castle Hill (#71), Bonnie Doon (#81), Cypress Lakes (#96), Belmont (#98 ), Killara (#100), thats in the past 14 months, I've played a few others since I've been here.........The best of these courses is Newcastle, no doubt about it....If you ever have a chance to play there, take it. But bring your "A" game, it's a doozie.....

At home, I played my home course, St. Charles CC, and had forgotten just how good it is.....Here's a link to a bunch of pics if anyone cares

    http://www.bombsquadgolf.com/invboar...st=0&p=498845&

    Any goals for next year?

Play more and practice more.......but no number goals.......

    Holidays?

Going to Melbourne to play Royal and Kingston. Going to be on the Gold Coast in Feb too.....

Hope that is at least a little interesting to someone

Default Re: Your golfing year in review (2004) and 2005 goals

    How did you go?
2004 was the year I decided that golf was a game I needed to play more often. Having played in my late teens and early 20s I didn't really have the right temperament to enjoy it, but now I can put bad shots in the past within seconds and that makes for a much more enjoyable day out. This epiphany only really happened in August so I am just starting out on my journey.

Did you achieve what you wanted to achieve?
Yes. But my goals weren't really lofty. Just to get out more often and practice a bit. 2005 will be a different story.

Did your golf game go backwards or forwards?
    Definitely forwards.

Any there any outstanding experiences from the year, that you'd like to share?
My road to damascus incident. That's all.

Did you play some great courses?
Narooma, Woodlands (today), Yarra Yarra (this Tuesday), Sandhurst, Southern.

    ---------------
    And next year:
What are your goals for 2005?
Get a handicap. Improve my putting.

    Got any golfing holidays planned?
Not specifically, but I'm sure I will play a few rounds when I got up to Mildura to see Mum and Dad. Maybe a weekend down on the Mornington Peninsula to play with Flowergirl.

Tell us about how your year in golf went:
    How did you go?
This year seems like a blur of mediocrity with the odd good round thrown in amongst so many "beaten by a shot" rounds that they don't even bother me anymore.
Did you achieve what you wanted to achieve?
Not really...my hcp hovered between 8 and 7 all year.
My bag is set which is probably not a good thing when you are a Ho but I can honestly say that every club in my bag is exactly what I want.
I worked hard on my bunker play in late 04 and now I can actually get out of sandtraps....well sometimes.
    Did you reach your goal/s?
My goal is to get through my working week so yeah I guess I did.
Did your golf game go backwards or forwards?
I think I went forward...my best games were when I relaxed and stopped thinking mechanically about the swing while I was swinging or putting, gotta keep that up in 05.
Hit a lot of pretty drives followed by chunked approach shots.
Putting improved over the course of the year probably because I only owned 2 putters...hopefully I'll be pulling the Mezza out of the bag this time next year.
The ex Club Capt from Virginia gave me some advice late in the year about course management and playing short of trouble and to my strengths which shaved about 3 strokes off my average Saturday round.
Any outstanding experiences from the year, that you'd like to share?
Numerous rounds with the Ozgolf crew...great genuine bunch of Aussies.
Did you play some great courses?
Nothing outstanding....North Lakes was nice,Nudgee,Indro etc.

Hopefully joining Nudgee in the next few weeks and getting into a routine of kicking jarro nudgee and Pats arses on a weekly basis. \/

    How did you go?
I started the year on 12 and am currently on 8.
Did you achieve what you wanted to achieve?
    Sure did (see below)
    Did you reach your goal/s?
Yep, and then some. I had a goal of reaching single figures before the end of the year. Come September & I'm still languishing on 11, ready to give up on single digits. Then something clicked, I've dropped to 7.8 and every time I play I am threatening to drop even more
Did your golf game go backwards or forwards?
    Forwards
Any there any outstanding experiences from the year, that you'd like to share? 4th place in Club Champs (B-Grade), Becoming the Club Champ Matchplay Champion (B-Grade), 2nd place in City of Cairns (B-Grade), Winning my first Monthly Medal (A-Grade), winning Medal of Medals (A-Grade) and numerous other comp wins; the highlight of them all being the A-Grade Medals.
Did you play some great courses?
    Unfortunately, no.
    ---------------
    NEXT YEAR
What are your goals for 2005?
Gain a bit more consistency, and drop handicap to 5 or below.
    Got any golfing holidays planned?
Going to Europe in July, not taking the sticks, buut I am still hoping to have a round or two while I'm there.
Have a particular course lined up to play?
Nope. But a visit to St Andrew's would be nice.

Tell us about how your year in golf went:
    How did you go?
Did you achieve what you wanted to achieve?

Weirdest year of golf I've had since I started. Started the year on 12.3, played crap all year and somehow finished the year on 12.2

    Did you reach your goal/s?
No, wanted single figures . Didn't play regularly enough to hit the ball with any consistency.
Did your golf game go backwards or forwards?
    Big step sideways
Are there any outstanding experiences from the year that you'd like to share?
Lead the B grade club champs after 3 holes. Started birdie par par. Ended up with a 92.
Only decent round I had all year , I was 1 over after 6 holes, hit my approach shot on 7 to 6 ft from the pin only to be told I'd hit the wrong ball. I never recovered from that.
Did you play some great courses?
Cairns, Half Moon Bay. ( well they're great to me )

    ---------------
    And next year:
What are your goals for 2005?

    Single figures.
    Got any golfing holidays planned?
    Not yet

Have a particular course lined up to play?
    Not yet.

How did we go? Caz 9.2 to 7.5 Paul 14.2 to 12.0

Achievements? Nothing individually but won the Easter Mixed 4B over 2 rounds which we were very happy with considering our handicaps. Also won enough balls so that we didn't have to buy any.

Reach Goals? No - this year I want to reach sinle figures and Caz wants to reach 5 (as she loves to practice and I don't its a safe bet about who will achieve and who will not).

Outstanding experiences - 9 holes just on dusk on a summer afternoon with seemingly no one else around.

Good courses - Glades, Bonville. Denarau, Palm Meadows, Ocean Shores.

Golfing holidays - this year Fiji and Coffs Harbour - next year Singapore/Bintan/Phuket and Coffs Harbour.
