    Default Eclectic

    Rules (as requested by Courty)

    * Best Gross score per hole for your chosen course.
    * Eclectic scoring runs from January 09 to Jun 09 (July to Dec will also run if interest is there, but will start from scratch again)
    * If you play more than one course often enough, multiple entries are allowed (this will mean that you will need to buy multiple lotto tickets at the conclusion of the comp)
    * Winner will be decided by the amount under par, less handicap (1/3 of official handicap @ June 30 2009) e.g Player A scores 12 under, less 1/3 of handicap 15 (5) Eclectic score = -12 less 5 = -17

    * All players must post the Pars of each hole initially and any gross scores.
    * Players can post updates for their Eclectic scores as they improve on any current score per hole.

    Prize
    * All participants will procure a lotto ticket for a designated draw sometime in early July 09.
    * Ticket must be scanned and posted in this thread.
    * Eclectic winner will receive 50% of the prize pool.
    * Procurer of winning ticket will receive 20% (if not winner of Eclectic comp).
    * Remaining participants will get a share of remaining 30%.

If anything is not clear or needs updating let me know.

    Cheers

Sounds good, as long as it's simple.
May want to limit it to half-yearly/quarterly, to keep interest up.
How about Summer Eclectic, Autumn Eclectic, etc. ?

I hadn't worked all the details out, but I assume it would be relative to the par of each hole and the par of the course i.e. Eclectic score for period Jan to June 09 - 7 under.

Obviously the scores need to be at the one course.

Just use your home course Grunt.
Or pick one course that you play the most. (The whole concept of eclectic the best score on a hole, over a period of time.)

Not feasible over a range of courses, as difficult scorring holes would be on different hole numbers.

    Chappy, handicaps ?
I think we use half AGU for our 4 round comps, each Feb. and August.
    Quarter AGU at end-of-comp ?

As players will compete at differing courses, I suppose the only fair way (pardon the pun) would be to have the eclectic score (relative to par e.g. 8 under over a 6 month period) less handicap (e.g. 12) = 20 under. This would allow all interested players from any club to compete, regardless of the par of the course.

It will be based largely on the honesty system though. The club I am a member at have an Eclectic scoring facility, but others may not.

I take it we don't all need to use the same method of collecting electic data, just need to transpose into a spreadsheet to display where everyone ended up at the EOY.

I assume so, as you would be giving yourself multiple chances of winning.

I would be keen for this but how do you want us to prove our scores ? I normally just keep a card with my eclectic details at home.

Guess it is just another Golf honour system.
Would be more so with this, to cheat a fellow ozgolfer would be worse than ripping an ozgolfer off, or not shouting after a cash win.

That was my concern, it only takes one person to spoil it for everyone. I don't think the guys at my club would be willing to photocopy my card every week to keep records that way !

I'm happy to run the scores for those interested.

I'll need your preferred club and the holes (including PARS).

After you have completed a round, send the date and any change to the score on a given hole.

    Have I missed anything??

Do we need a cut off date as to when interested parties can join the comp or can it go all the way until June?
