Views on Nickent - "The Good, the Bad & the Ugly"
Guys,
I've started this thread because it's about the performance of Nickent clubs, not the delivery times of the Australian distributor.
I'm looking for some objective comments or views about Nickent clubs. I've had a bit of a look on the net & I came across a US golfing website forum where the site owner obviously has some sort of under the table deal going with the company because it's like shrine to Nickent. The site owner never shuts up about it & his butt-kiss minions go on & on in the same vein.
I've been around long enough to know that Nickent clubs would have good & bad points just like any club. I'm looking for some sort of balanced review or comments about the clubs' performance. I'm in the market for a 4 hybrid but I'm interested in members' experiences with other Nickent clubs also.
Any personal experiences you'd like to share?

I use the 3DX DC Utility 21 degree fitted with a Aldila NV65 shaft.
Hard to miss from any lie & fantastic from the Fairway.
The 3DX Square driver also works well, matched with a UST V2 shaft.
Helped me hit it straighter than I ever have before. Was a huge step up from the stock POS I had with my set of Top Flites.
It sounds like a tin can, but still goes quite well. Face is very closed, even the worst slicers can hit this one straight.
I recently made some changes to my grip, and it seems to have solved my slice & turned what used to be a gentle draw into a hook with the 3DX.
I've recently purchased a Taylor Made Burner TP. Haven't had it for long, so the 3DX Square still has a place in the bag for the time being.
But the Burner TP is working bloody well.
The wife also uses a 3DX Square driver, absolutely smacks it!
She also knocked off a 3DX DC Utility 17 degree from my bag, and also hits it bloody well from the fairway.

I've mini-concluded that the future of Nickent in Australia is doomed.
We have one person awaiting arrival of clubs & only one person currently using them. The company is a goner.

I've never hit one.
The people I know who have used their driver absolutely nuke them. Don't know anyone who has used the hybrid. They look quite offset though.
As part of the deal for ordering the driver and 3 wood, I am supposed to get a hybrid for free. If it turns up, it has already been earmarked for a trade with a 700ml bottle of Jimmy.

2 if you include the wife!
A few people using Nickent on "The Other Site" I see.
I went to a golf shop nearby, and they had a good range of Nickent gear sitting there ready to go. Just as much display room given to them as the other large manufacturers too(Callaway/Nike Etc)
Still yet to see another person at my club using Nickent gear.

The 3DX DC utility I have sits square, definitely not closed.
Could be a different model to the one you're getting though.

I use Nickent. Their square drivers are very forgiving, go a mile, but a little bit of a hook machine for me. I still have a "tour" 3dx sitting here in the plastic, the others are now gone to better homes.
I love their hybrids however, but prefer the ironwood-style hybrids over their utilitys that dazza uses.

I played with a one-legged guy who uses a Nickent staff bag. Looked like a good bag, but I was a bit distracted because when he walked the knee on his prosthetic leg squeaked, so maybe it was actually a POS. Sorry I can't be of more help.

Friend of a friend is a club pro in Queensland. When he has a demo day at his club he compares his Nickent 4dx driver against all offered drivers on the launch monitor. I believe he is yet to find a driver that can match his, titleist included.
For myself I bought a 3 wood and a rescue from Rock Bottom golf and love them. The rescue is one of the ironwood style, and has totally converted me from a die hard long iron player.

the drivers and hybrids would be one of the best clubs out on the market.
The 4dx driver has a slightly harder feel off the face but the evolver takes off pretty quick...too bad about the price tag for the screw in shafts.
Have tried both versions of the hybrids and the IW is probably a better option.
Even with the stock shaft they are probably the best hybrid i have hit...and i have tried probably every model from all major companies
Delivery times and the service from the company...well there is much to be desired.

I agree, although I think it would be fair to say that the ironwood varieties are better replacements for those of us who prefer to swing an iron-type shot. The utility hybrids are far more "wood-like", with a larger head and perhaps a bit easier to get airborn than their ironwood cousins.
I have a nickent utility hybrid that's rarely in the bag, but it is a pretty good club, and for me is more of a replacement for my 3/4 woods (much easier to get airborn off the deck) than it is my long irons.
So, as in all things, it is horses for courses.

Well thanks to Henno I am now using the 3DX Square driver.
Gotta agree, that it is very forgiving and when hit right goes a mile. All I need now is consistency

I'm in the market for a 4 hybrid to replace my 3 iron. I have a Wilson Staff DH6 3 hybrid (19 degree) that's supposed to replace the 3 iron but it's too long for that role (200 - 220m regularly). I love that club but I need one to fill the hole between it & the 4 iron.
I'm not familiar with the ironwood distinction. I assume that it's unique to Nickent & I also assume the ironwoods are hit with more of a descending blow than the Nickent 'utilities'?

My 2 girls think different about things...gotta love them. As for me, a golf club is a golf club and if you cannot use it, try something else but it comes down to you as a person trying to hit the bloody thing. Nickent or any other brand, it does not matter.

Excellent gear. Many juniors and low markers around my area have converted to the 4DX Tour-Spec driver and swear by it. They certainly lace it. A mid capper friend tried out the Draw Spec today and belted it fine. Some of the best value in golf.

Yet another trouble free day with the 3DX DC Utility.
Managed to land it just off the green (4mt from the hole) from 170mt out off some hard clay type crap in the rough.
Nothing can stop this thing!
