During the week, half of the chipping green will still be open for practise. They will only close it on comp days.

6 is actually being closed down completely and it is being replaced by a par 3 that will utilise the chipping green. It will play as the 9th hole.
Good 6th is a swine of a hole

6 is a good par 3 when the green is in decent nick.

15 is very nice. 17 is great. Beautiful approach.

17 green is in shocking condition , very patchy, doesn't appear to be have much grass root growth and therefore quite muddy in appearance.

played woodchip and cardy city yesterday in the Winter Cup.
Course is in really good nick and I tested a lot of the bunkers out.

Very nice by all accounts. Links track that cops a lot of wind.

    Home track of Dave1.

I don't think you can go wrong with that. I am not sure if Slothman still comes around here, but he is a member and a good guy. Be worth catching up with him for a game.

Thanks for the kind words JC....not sure if anyone believes you though

The course in in pretty good condition at the moment. Greens have nearly recovered fully from coring and will be pretty schmicko in a few weeks

17 has a temp green but will be good to go by Australia Day Weekend (our big Wittenoom cup week).

Albany is a pretty simple design. Most holes run parallel to each other but the fairways are not flat, and depending on the wind, will make the course a challenge. It looks like a links course, but doesn't play like one, once you get over that....its a blast to play

I would also recommend heading out to Denmark for the day and play a round there. Its been a few years since they went from Sand to Grass greens and installed irrigation. Considering it was mainly done by members and volunteers....hell of an achievement. Still got a way to go, but for a country track that has undergone some serious work over the past few years....impressive. I plan on heading out for a Tuesday Scroungers over the December break to see how its progressing.

well so much for thinking i was in some sort of form - goneski !
Was bloody hot and the course was quite dry - as always at this time of year when they struggle to keep enough water on it ,
one of the green keepers was out with a hose giving some greens and tees a little extra drink for most of the time we were there.

Still wouldn't want to play there on a regular basis , nice to visit once a year but still far to many gravel and rocks to wreck your sticks

On a side note I was amazed that they had about 10 hire sets , all with Titliest 913 woods , AP1 & 2 irons , scotty cameron putters !
I was talkin to David O the pro about them and the copper came out in me and i asked him how many clubs they get ripped off
he pretty much said you have to sign away your first born before you can hire them - so virtually none , just the occasional head cover

I agree. Im in Albany atm, and had a round today. The wind was blowing a little, which makes the course a challenge. The fairways are narrow with bush on each side, and its all up and down. The greens are looking really shmick, and being the 1st round here, really had a good go today, as the greens werent too fast. Well worth the stroll aound.
If the wind is up, expect some trouble

Yeh the 17th just reopened the new green (still around 2 weeks away from being "playable" but progressing at a rapid rate) and the rest where looking good. A couple will need to have the treatment of the 17th over the coming seasons I reckon but still running bloody true.

They are the quickest they have been for a while and I heard they will be getting quicker. Personally, I think they play wonderfully and we are spoiled down here.

Did you see many snakes?? They are out in force this year.

I am glad you liked it

Wow, if they are going to get quicker, then there will be some roll on's for sure . . . .

Yea, did see 1 down on the 11th or 12th, and nearly stepped on a Bobbie, going through to the 5th. Scared the absolute begeezers out of me, initially, because all you see at first glance, is the shiny scaly back, then when you settle and realise the diamond head and legs, you settle the nerves a little
I should of come across more of them, because on the 5th, I had a nice drive off the tee that faded beautifully, and made a 1 putt one the green Bring on more scary moments haha
