Bumping as I'm heading to Perth in mid Feb. Time permits for 4-5 rounds within an hour or so of the CBD during the week.

Kennedy Bay's a lock. It's the week of the Super 6 so Karrinyup's out of the question.

I noted that there's a 9 holer on Rottnest Island. Is it any good?

Otherwise what are the must plays over there?

I'll start a separate thread closer to the week to see if any of you locals would be keen on meeting up.

Rotto is not worth the ferry over but if your heading over in any event, may as well.

Sun City is worth the drive.

Joondalup is worth it once for the quarry experience.

    After that chook lotto.

Cottesloe is nice but hard to access, both royals are ok but freo has 3 greens out of action.

Yokine is fun, mt lawley i really like parts of both a little tricky to access.

Wanneroo is a bit of a sleeper.

Secret harbour is fun and mandurah is always enjoyable imo.

Araluen is an often forgotten gem.

I thought Meadow Springs was quite good. It needs a tree clear out and there are some crazy bits (as you would expect from a Trent Jones Jnr design)

But all in all a good track worth playing

Our track at Wanneroo is a good course, they held the elimination round for the AU's amateur there last year (201 and they are holding the WA amateur in March.

Need 2 course recommendations for a Sat/Sun group of 8, based out of Dunsborough.

Bunbury has a tournament on so no go there.

Playing Binningyup on the way down & Capel or Harvey on the way back.

1 player doesn't have a GL number so that might cull the list for Saturday's round and leave us with Sanctuary as the only option....

Dunsborough Lakes isn’t a bad track. They would probably be accommodating as well.

Margaret River is a gem of a track if you don’t mind the 40min drive.

For those that play pennants or play as a visitor at other clubs regularly....

Do you guys encounter the amount of shit the east coasters do ? The arguments/committee involvement/disputes etc.

JC, you've been at multiple clubs, playing at a fairly high level, is this the norm for you and your regular playing group ?

I've never had an "encounter" in 28 years of golf. Not here nor NZ.

Worst issue I had we’re having to call in a rules offical in the Divy 2 final when my opponent from Cott didn’t want to give me a drop. Was very civil, he said no, I said yes, I called our captain and got his opinion (without saying whose ball it was so he was unbiased), he said definitely, I said get a rules official. Got the drop.

I also once played the world’s grumpiest man. He was so bad another club contacted me about writing a letter to Golf WA, to which I asked what was the outcome they desired, to force him to speak? No letter was written. His match play strategy is to be ultra serious, fine with me.

We did have a guy allegedly drop a ball against one of our players this year - I back our player 100% on this.

That’s about it in 11 years, 70 matches.

Does Yokine WAGC worth $120 a round?
I emailed the GM to play a round there as guest. The green fees for guest is $120. Not sure i should play another round at Joondalup instead.
    Thanks

It’s a nice track. Definitely not worth $120.

Is that 'guest of a member' rates ? Solo guest on a Saturday ? Midweek comp ?

Play Araleun. They normally have a golf/cart combo deal on.

Great track, way better than WAGC.

That doesn’t sound right, unless includes cart hire.

Members Guest (member of private golf club) $50 18 holes

You're in big trouble though, pal. I eat pieces of shit like you for breakfast!

Have a smash and grab temp work gig that involves a couple days in Perth. Can't fit a round in, but was thinking of taking 4 clubs for a bit of range work. Any tips for the nearest night range to Perth CBD? Won't have wheels, so will be uber/taxi. Anything at RP I could try leverage some reciprocals on?

If you are looking at night range, Wembley would be the go.

RP has a short, iron only range. Don’t believe there are lights.
