Update on Albany coring. Front nine have come back REALLY well. They are still a bit long and DAMN slow...but will be pretty damn nice.

Back nine is about a week and a bit behind, 2 or 3 still need another week but the rest are close.

If your planning a trip 2-3 weeks should see it pretty safe and in pretty damn good condition. Please don't go looking in the deep stuff for lost balls....lots and lots of tiger snakes on the course at the moment.

I think there are lots of snakes around on most courses at the moment, I counted 4 on Saturday alone, just baking themselves in the sun.

A big tiger strolled across No5 right in front of us at Secrets Saturday morning.

    Question without notice
Is the ability to accurately "guesstamate" the length of a snake directly proportional to your own ability to accurately describe your best ever Oz Golfer Long Drive ?

Now isn't that an interesting question. I mean sure that "8 Foot snake" that is really on 4 does lend me to believe that your drive would be half the distance. However it depends on the ratio of fear to ego you possess.

See I am dead shit scared of snakes, so will obviously increase the size of the snake as my eyes enlarge to look for the nearest point of escape in my peripheral vision. However I have also played golf with JC the "MVP", I imagine that is how is eyes are like in the mirror each morning just to make sure he "gets to see as much as possible"

I tend to agree - snakes are big NOPE for me, and having to recount it later, my memory adds at least another 1 - 2 ft to it's length.

with a laser/gps though - my drives are much easier to measure........ when they're on the course or Fairway.

Had my first snake encounter on Sunday at SH. Not the most pleasant experience but I don't mind then as much others.

Course was good but the wind won on the day. Chaotic at times lol.

Wouldn't mind playing Sun City sometime soon. Is that a course non members/non golf link players can get on over the weekend ?

    hope it goes well.

I heard that Crown had been looking for some time following the loss of Burswood - i even heard a rumour he was going to buy Maylands and drop some big money to get it up to scratch a few years ago

part of me wishes he did take up Maylands - its not the worst layout in the world, the location is brilliant, and a top notch condition course that close to the city would be awesome.

I'm surprised on the leadbetter idea for Joondalup. Open range with minimal light use allowed, small short game area at the back that's now in range of the longer hitters. Can see the attraction for crown, it's a perfect fit.

Not sure City of Bayswater could sell Maylands even if they wanted to

Just gonna put this here for the WA guys coming down to Albany in April.....

Course is looking AMAZING. Should be in pretty good nick for April (just got to check with the Manager etc) as the Classic is in March.

Lots of work has gone into clearing under neath the thick trees so finding a ball is easier, still not going to help you but at least you can find it.

Fairways are playing great but the greens...OMG. They rolled them Friday night ready for Saturday Monthly Mug....killed me. So much quicker than I have seen them down here. Made them crazy...but they rolled so true. Get the speed right and wow.

Played with a visitor on Saturday who had last seen it when it was cored....he was more than impressed. If your around the South...its worth a look.

Played Kennedy Bay today with JC, Shadesy, and JC mate Steve.

Conditions were fairly easy, with only a moderate wind springing up on the last 5 holes. Conditions were pretty good. Fairways have an odd lumpyness to them, but grass coverage is good.

Overall I really enjoyed the layout. I really didn't have the pot bunkers being an issue off the tee as the fw is generally pretty wide, with tonnes of room to lay back if need be.

I enjoyed most holes with the exception of 9. The fw bunkering is a little bizarre.

I think the 16th?? is the postage stamp par 3, and in Australia probably only played a better par 3 in Barnbougle 7th.

The only negative on the course is the well documented push up greens. I think a lot of the holes with this have far too steep a bank, and is a little repetitive.

Be keen to play it with the wind blowing to see how tough it really gets. JC with 3 under made it look pretty easy.

Any local knowledge for Ktown ?

Catching up with a mate early tomorrow.

Looks great at the moment, but it's my first hit there.

    Course was mint, great track.

The hills took me back to NZ, the pine trees too, saw a lot of those !

Greens were pure and good speed to them. Will definitely be back there for another hit.

Mate is asking me to join a comp this weekend at Seaview... never played there before...
was told by someone it was not that good and is a public 9 hole course.... so was wondering if anyone has recent feedbacks for the course?

I read on here it does get windy.

    edit:
had a look on the course description... looks like quite a few safety warnings on there...

Fun track to play once a year. Very narrow in places, with some short, funky par 4s.

Conditioning in usually good; it's a private course that allows public on certain days, like Hartfield. Not a public track.
