Forget Albany for a while if your travelling.

Front 9 cored....poorly. Really shitty. Usually the coring is fine, and although not great, playable. They are really bad and really inconsistent this year. As they tend do 9 holes, than 2 weeks later..the other 9..this is going to be a long few months I think.

First time I'll be playing golf in Perth. Which courses should I be looking at? (Staying close to the casino).

Kennedy Bay, links style, great track. Will take you 45 min or so from the casino.

Araluen is quite the track. Great elevation changes.

Joondalup is pricey, gets a ton of traffic, but rates highly.

Meadow Springs is about an hour, good track with a few retarded greens.

When were you looking at playing? There are quite a few guys that might be able to assist.

WAGC update - 2 temp greens at the moment as trying a new variety of bent grass which apparently has better winter wear tolerance. One r-turfed and the other seeded.

Rest of the greens get cored next Sunday

Greens have been average lately although the weather certainly hasn't helped!
You're in big trouble though, pal. I eat pieces of shit like you for breakfast!

    Thanks for the reply buddy.

I get to Perth in a few days, but not playing til the start of next week.

Araluen looks great, same as Meadow Springs.
Not a fan of links, just 'looks' boring although one of my regular courses is a links

    Good call Bruce.

With it being coring season, I'd be checking with every course before booking anything in.

Vines greens are very very pure at the moment. Came back from coring well, and running fairly quick.

A mate told me Joondalup has had some huge issues with greens. apparently full on reno's required to get them back up to par and members aren't happy.

I think like a lot of places winter was a battle. Worst growing conditions encountered in a long time

For The Vines greens to be rolling well, something has to be amiss.

mate, played the Spring Cup yesterday - and they are rolling extremely true, and the pace is coming back well. The heat will help with that.

they are the best I have every seen them, and is like putting on velvet/carpet.

Have just been advised of a new membership structure the vines are looking to introduce.

Will be based on a ‘credit’ system, and different tiers available based on the amount golf played in a year. Full Rights, will now be ‘unlimited’ and able to play 24/7, advanced booking times etc, plus some additional discounts at the resort, and benefits.

Flexi replaces the 6 day memberships, giving you 200 credits for use over a 12 month period. 18 holes midweek is 4 credits, Saturday 6 credits, Sunday 5 credits. Works out to about 33 ‘ish rounds a year.

    Casual gives you 100 credits.

All of the above 3 have a $1,500 nomination fee for new members. All memberships owned till years end will be available to transfer/sell.

I can see this causing a big argument among members, as those who play minimum once a week will be paying more than their current subs, however those who play less than once a week on average (such as myself) will pay significantly less.

Hmmm I'm all for user pays, particularly because I'm jealous that I don't play enough and are effectively subsidising those that do!

Something just doesn't feel right about it though
