Long time ABC journo Mark Colvin passed away today.

He was a giant of journalism in this country, and a familiar voice for anyone who listened to ABC on the drive home being the host of PM. He was also a prolific twitter user, and was always happy to engage.

He was exceptionally intelligent, witty and to the point. His presence will be missed by those who appreciate quality journalism rather than what masquerades as journalism on commercial tv and radio.

One of my favourite guests on Conversations with Richard Fidler.

What a interesting life.. his father, his near death illness and OS correspondence.

    Sad.

Listened to the ABC for most of the day, many, many tributes for Mark.

What a life he had. Can only imagine what it must have been like finding out that your dad was a real life James Bond

Bloody Hell. I'll have to break out the Soundgarden CDs.

Golf is, in part, a game; but only in part. It is also in part a religion, a fever, a vice, a mirage, a frenzy, a fear, an abscess, a joy, a thrill, a pest, a disease, an uplift, a brooding, a melancholy, a dream of yesterday and a hope for tomorrow. - New York Tribune, 1916.

No doubt I'll be busting out the Audioslave CD over the weekend.
Someone at work said within hours of playing a concert and last song was about taking your own life. Not sure how true that is?

Has been finishing off the sets with that song for most of the tour. I suggest it goes deeper than that. Suicide is really reaching epidemic proportions, everywhere.
