Mark we can’t vote but by popular opinion Trump is a complete **** forehead
Its funny how we hate overseas politicians more than the self serving ****wits that run this country
I don’t see any sense in taking a helicopter in heavy fog to avoid travelling 80 miles by road. Especially with other people on board.
I remember going with my mate in his helicopter years back. While hanging out the door taking pics of his dad’s boat we cavitated and dropped 500 odd feet like a rock. Minced my pants and have never been in a chopper since.
“I didn’t tell you at the time but have no idea how we didn’t crash.”
To quote my mate 6 months later.

Seems that the metoo bandwagon suddenly has boundaries. I wonder if they will extend the same courtesy to others like Cosby, Spacey et al.
The wording of the statement Kobe released at the time of settlement seems to me to be an admission of a nonconsensual act:
“Although I truly believe this encounter between us was consensual, I recognize now that she did not and does not view this incident the same way I did. After months of reviewing discovery, listening to her attorney, and even her testimony in person, I now understand how she feels that she did not consent to this encounter.”
At the very least that’s enough to me that any discussion of his legacy should be at least “it’s complicated” as opposed to near sainthood...
For me, Kobes admission/confession/apology is very sincerely given, he appears genuinely repentant to me. We dont often see that in cases where someone feels they didnt do anything wrong. Most people use words like If, But or Apparently when forced to apologise.
So in a dispute between 2 parties all you need is for one party to think everything is ok for it to be ok?
And there being intent or not doesn’t change whether something happened or not and he doesn’t deny something happened. He disputed the intent. In law that may or not have avoided a rape conviction - we’ll never know. But there was something not ok about the encounter hence the statement/settlement. (It is also worth considering if today’s perspective on what is ok/not ok is different than it was then).
I’m not saying he should be vilified - as mark points out he showed what seemed like genuine contrition, etc and it was a long time ago, 2nd chance and all that. However I felt it odd that a lot of the coverage about his death omitted a significant moment in his history

I didn’t mention the dispute. The first sentence of Bryant’s statement you posted says “Although I truly believe this encounter between us was consensual” You then said it was an admission of a non consensual act. While the rest of his statement acknowledges how she feels he made no such admission. In the post above you also say he denied the intent. You can believe what you want about what happened but to say he admitted it is silly. And the settlement means nothing. If he successfully defended the civil suit there’s probably next to no chance he would have recovered costs. At its most basic it was likely a smart financial decision.
