They idolize his talent, not his shit life or drug use. He was a fantastic actor. I also admire Kurt Cobain and Keith Richards for their music, but they're idiots for using heroin.

The cult of celebrity is hardly about talent. Perhaps this punter is more talented than Kim Kardashian, who knows, they are peddling similar shite. Will any of his enablers be charged with supply or will it just be the usual, "he was so giving as an actor, so generous".

A drug addled Philip Seymour Hoffman, or Heath Ledger etc is infinitely more beneficial to society than a sober Kardashian. I couldn't give a shit about his private life, drugs or not. But he's contributed greatly to the arts. Kim Kardashian has never done anything of value in her life and is now actively making Kanye's music worse. They're peddling vastly different shite.

I find merit/benefit in people who work hard and create a better life for their family rather than overpaid, over indulged ****sticks who decide that parading on stage in tights is all too difficult and decide to check out.

Fair enough. I reckon I'd find parading on stage in tights bloody terrifying and impossibly difficult. It'd make me consider checking out too.

Pretty ignorant view on people battling addiction issues. Definitely surprised at some of the names throwing around Dave1esque comments.

How come every actor who dies prematurely is 'the best of their generation'?

By my count their can only be one for the baby boomers, one for Gen X, one for Gen Y etc

    That's three. No ****ing more.

Plaudits actually worth it in this case. I can't think of anything I've seen him in where he wasn't great.

    Boogie Nights

    Moneyball

    All brilliant supporting roles.

Talent does not sell the Hollywood gossip columns, TV shows etc. The world is captured by Hollywood lives and many think that would be living the dream

He was in some bloody amazing films - Punch Drunk Love is a fantastic film.

I get the anger at putting him up on a pedestal. I get the reactions of him being gutless, a smack head, et al. The reaction this should be getting is no matter how much of a success a person is, or how good someone's life appears, that you just never know, and you don't know how people deal with the issues in their life.

He chose to inject drugs to get a high. With a stash that big I'm betting he wasn't planning to check out anytime soon. So
if you're confusing the disdain in which he is being held with lack of sympathy for someone with depression, you'd be wrong.

He was a loser smack head.
    I'm back.

I find it very difficult to feel sorry for drug users. Every one of them at one point made a decision to take it up.

Had a heroin addict living in my house, I can relate to that.
