You might be through to the third round without breaking a sweat if the other golfers make no effort to play. They will both get scratched.

Johnny Canuck takes the win for "Team Canada"

well the first of the WA Matchplay games is done and dusted and it was an epic!!
JC wins on the 20th hole.
Simmsy was 2up after 6 and Johnny was crappin himself then JC came back to win 7,8&9
then we sq. 10-12 with JC winning the 13th to go 2up with 5 to go.
Tee up on the 16th i was 3 down with 3 to go JC is on the green 20ft and i was in the gully on the left. Well JC felt sorry for me and 3 jacked it and i scrambled a par for the win. I win the next two holes to carry it to overtime.
Sq. the first xtra hole, but lose the 20th after getting into a bit of badluck from the tee.

Great day was had perfect weather. Thanks very much Johnny for showing me around the KBay great track truly a brilliant course and very fortunate for it being a nice day.

Adlo - nearly birdied the 9th when we were playing extra holes on the way back in. 205mtr 3 wood to 10ft. I was happy with that, but could only think if only.

    Cheers

    Simmsy..

    Sounds like a great match!

Worthy of the final, pity it was first round. If only a few other WA boys took notes.

Unlucky simmsy. Nice one on the 9th. How often do you stick 3w to 10ft?

yeah pretty rare for sure. it was a great match. JC was great in giving a few tips around the course.
You need to play that course a fair bit to feel any degree of comfort about it. Several times i was just confused and lost as to how to play a shot or where to hit it.
Hopefully the other matches might get going now as well.

Simmsy is the biggest bandit on ozgolf, even bigger than Just. After playing with him at Joondalup, I was thinking 12, maybe 13 handicap, not 18!

I birdied 3 of the first 7 and walked to the 8th tee one down.

On the day I was 3 over for 20 holes and BARELY scraped out a victory.

Thanks to the gods of Kennedy that finally popped up and bit Simmsy on hole 20.

If we can ever get him free from parenthood on a weekend, he would make a great forth for a Holden Scramble side.

I would never play him for cash again giving up that many strokes. It took a big effort to come out on top.

I think he just doesn't play often enough to bring the handicap down.

Yeah thanks for the kind words there gents. But Adlo if you had of seen Johnny's 3 putt on the 16th you would of called in "the fix" how he 3 putted that I will never know( he is a very kind man I think!), JC is so solid from any distance I think he lipped at least 6 20ft+ putts that you swear should of fallen. I was fairly happy with my round considering i haven't played in over a month and with a new driver that I had never hit in anger before, i ended up with 36stab points with 2 pickups if we were counting over the 18.

I would say a definate no for the next month on weekend golf as the new bub will be here by the w'end one way or the other.
After that as long as I get a bit of notice I can work on the missus for the occassional w'end game.

I know how you feel simmsy....we've got a 2yr old and a 6 month old so squeezing in 18 is very difficult especially if you want to keep the peace.
I've tried to get at at least 1 round of 18 in per month but so far only managed 4 full rounds this year.....I've resorted to having a hit after work to try and keep touch.....manage to squeeze in at least 2 9 hole rounds per week which isn't too bad.

Yeah it can be a tuff gig to juggle, like you have been golfnut its been pretty busy for the last two years with the missus being pregnant then looking after a new bub and now pregnant again pretty soon after.
Anyway enough of baby sh!t the mods will ban this thread if it continues!!

I too can usually get out to the course of an afternoon but always weighing up whether to hit the range and chpn green or just go out and mess around half a dozen holes. its usually the later which isn't great for my game.

When are the rest of the WA boys going to get this Matchplay comp running, c'mon guys I realize most of us are busy but it is well worth doing and well worth the effort to meet a few of the ozgolf locals.

i think we need to check and see who is still interested and possibly adjust the bracket to suit.

if we only have 8 including simmsy, we can just make a one sided bracket as opposed to having 7 byes.

    Agreed.

    Keen:

    adlo
    JC
    simmsy- gawwwwwwwwwn
    idgolfguy
    rebjon
    Golfnut
    Bruce D

    Questionable:
    TourFit
    qbn

    MIA:
    couldhavebeenpro
    WA Choppa

I have no doubt Mayhem would try and slip in to fill a spot.

couldhavebeenapro hasn't been on in over 2 months, if he's not going to be on the forum, he shouldn't be in the matchplay anyways.

    8 would be perfect.

If we get nine, randomly select one of the matches to be first round, with the winner going through to the round of eight, if we get 11, have two first round matches. if we get 10, bring in mayhem. that should cover it.
