    Default Week Commencing 27th October

Decided it was time to get an official handicap. So, not wanting to join a club I decided to go through Golf Access Australia.

Nominated Goonawarra as my "home" course, and played the first round there today.

There's a lot of earthworks being done on the back 9, but all up it's a pretty nice course. The guys I played with were super friendly, which was about the highlight of the day...

    106 gross (56 / 50)
    38 putts (3 x 3 putts, 14 x 2, 1 x 1)
    5 Fairways
    3 GIR
    0 Birdie
    4 Pars
    4 Bogies
    5 Doubles
    5 "others"
    0/1 Sand saves

Snuck out for a round in the Wednesday comp today....Up and down day that never really got going.

Had 34 points with three one pointers and a wipe. Still better than working however

I hit it absolutely ugly today.

My drive on the 1st went 10m...

    I had 32 points.

    7/13 fairways
    9 greens
    35 putts
    2/9 U&Ds

Had 4 three-putts, which for me is unacceptable.

Crazy to think that without those I would've had 36!!

At least lately I have been able to play ugly and still get it around in 30+.

31 points in the FOS Scottt game at Windsor today. I struggled in the rain to grip the clubs properly, which is a minor excuse that doesn't justify a very poor round. Some good putting on the back nine saved the score somewhat.

    The stats make scary reading.

    Fairways = 4 of 13
Greens in reg = 1 of 18, but on 8 occasions due to poor drives I didn't have an opportunity to hit the green
Putts = 28, with a birdie on my only GIR!, zero 3putts
    Up&Down = 5 of 11
Sand Saves = 2 of 3, both good putts

Played Windsor today for the 1st time

Crap would be too nice a word to describe my game today. After looking back at it, it was all off the tee where I was woeful, if I got off the tee I scored and if I did not I proceeded to not play too smart.

Stableford today - weather was purrfect.

Well - what can I say. Keep the drives on the fairway - hit pretty decent fairway shots - nice approaches - putting ok - not brilliant but ok - equals - drum roll please..................41 points. And the win for the day. And guess what - I took as much time as I wanted to and didn't give a hoot.

    Back to 16 - finally.

Matchplay final tomorrow - and my opponent lost a shot today too. So still "only" 15 shots I have to give her.
Fingers crossed. We are both in good form. Should be a tough match.

    Default Liverpool GC

Got back on the horse today hoping to play my way back into form. I felt like I played better but the score does not say so. I hit more fairways but did not turn them into GIR's. I had the 1st go with the new Putter and for the 1st 14 holes I could not get the pace right, some putts too hard and many left short. Got a bit of a feel towards the end of the round but it may be a few rounds before I have true confidence in it.

Played Hope Island today with my Japanese homestay golfers. Hit it ok for a change, albeit with a couple of skulls and shanks for 82 gross, 34 points. 3 birdies helped. The greens were mint, fairways short and fast. Played off the plates, mostly the course was pretty manageable, the par 3's are pretty strong though. 190, 145, 190 and 200!

Toshiki, my longest term homestayer put together a very tidy 72 today, which is the best golf I've seen him play. He's going alright for a 4 hcap. He was pretty impressed by how easy Hope Island was compared to Brookwater. They need to get out more!

Well the big final in our club's matchplay this afternoon.
Did I previously mention I had to give her 15 shots!!!!

We both played to the best of our abilities - she actually parred 2 holes that I had to give her a shot on - no birdies for me.

Made the turn 2 up. Won the 10th - then lost the 11th and 12th and was back to 1 up. I kept my cool and didn't panic ( which I would have done a year ago) and won the next 3 in a row to win 4/3. Phew!!

I had the BEST caddy I've ever had. She knows my game so well and her advice was invaluable. I've never had a good caddy before - what a huge difference it makes.

So - I am our clubs matchplay champ for 2008. Yea for me!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was going to go out for another solo practice this morning but ended up in a social play with other club members for nine hole before coming in to the office. Had an ok day: 5 solid pars, 2 bogeys, and 2 double bogeys because of water on Yowani's back 9.
