Ronny's Golflink
Is it a cyclocross bike? You just carry it everywhere
The Van Nicholas would be nice - titanium for all weather no worries riding.
Tom is riding the ass off his Lynskey that is for sure. But riding fast in winter on the downs is the only way to stop your blood from freezing without doing an IV of vodka for antifreeze before hand.

I havent ridden in 2 weeks ....grrr work kids busy yardy yah yah
time to get going again....
Did my first night ride last night on the mtb rode out to a mates 26 km each way about 6 km on rough corrugated gravel. Took one bottle of water and one of scotch and dry ginger for the half way stop took 2 hr 15 min total about an hour on the way back with a helping wind. Think I will need to invest in something better than the 5 led front light only gave about 3 metres of visibility.
love youre work mate thats sensational
Looked the right way before I attached, probably hit the wrong button. It's a Surly cargo bike:

The Van Nicholas is very tempting, as are some of the nice steel sportive frames I've checked out on the web.

that's what i was wondering Just.touring or commuting?
I bought it just to carry stuff around the neighbourhood like groceries, the kids, even took the wife for a spin on the back the other day. I got the frame around 3 years ago and slowly built it up as money and time allowed. Mostly I got it because I thought it was cool.
However in a post apocalyptic, post peak oil world where cars will be no more a man will still need to transport his bananas and this bike will do the job. You can never be too prepared.
Finally a ride today
Just 20km but felt great. First 5km was straight up hill. After the ride - had a coffee.
My two bikes have a combined age of 23. I'd happily take a tired old titanium shell. At least you can polish it up to look like new!
Brushed finish would look more Gucci goughy.
Did a short ride today, trying to work more hills in. Did about 8 ks in 25 minutes. Finished and had a glass of water.
Tap. Out of a mug though, radical I know.
I have the start of a cycling bug but don't have a bike. I don't really know where to start re getting a decent bike without being financially raped or ending up with a cheap quality, heavy thing that I'll have to ditch within a couple of months.
I only want a racing style bike (nothing like a mountain bike etc).
Any advice about what to do, where to start?

Plenty of good advice there on entry level bikes.
