Week commencing September 8th
Haven't posted reports on any of my rounds lately cos there is only one way you can say crap!!!
I've been spending a lot of time on the range and have changed my swing - a lot. And it has been a painful journey on the course. THat and the fact that we have tee up on 4 of our holes so the CCR is 68. Been a tough winter on the course for me.
But - spring is here in Melbourne and after having a few games with glimpses of promise I had a great game yesterday. The swing was steady and reliable and I spent hardly any times in the trees.
Par - +3. Only 2 wipes and they were misses by a bees dick. Two birdies - so no reward in par cos I get a shot on thoses holes.
84 off the stick - I think my best round ever - nett 67.

Had a hit at Barnwell Park today with a mate.
Shot 70 (+9) with two doubles (back to back on 14 and 15, which sucks), two birdies, seven pars and seven bogeys.
Hit nine greens and had 32 putts, allround not a bad round considering the main reason for the game was an overdue catch-up with the golf a bit of an aside, as well as the fact that I strained both my brachii radialis (the muscle that joins your bicep and forearm) the day before at the gym and couldn't straighten either arm properly!

I've been a bit over golf lately, but not enough to turn down an invitation to a freebie corporate game.
Lots of drinks today, but I'm happy with the way I was hitting it. Our group had 2 over by the end, and considering the other two couldn't play golf, I must've played pretty well. There were a couple of drunken spastic shots, but I actually hit some nice approach shots for a change. (I bet I don't do that next time I'm playing a round). Anyway, it was probably enough to encourage me to play this game again.

FG,
Great round, but I thought you were tough enough to post all rounds, good or bad, like Grunt and I do.
Why is there tee-up on four holes? Is it a drainage problem, or are the fairways being rebuilt? I've never heard of this on a course. In my experience its either every hole due to being waterlogged or none.

Take your point about not posting crap games. But I'm trying to focus on the positives. I've been in a slump for over 12 months so I didn't want to bore you all with all my tales of woe.
I did actually win the monthly medal last month and didn't report on that. And also won the district four ball matchplay - didn't report on that either. So I'm not quite as guilty as charged - but I do take your point on board.
Also the CCR has been very punishing. 36 points still gets you .1
We have the tee up because the fairways have been very soggy. We are on the side of a hill with a lot of houses above so there is a seepage problem if we have had a real lot of rain. We haven't had a problem in quite a few years - cos we've had no rain. Hopefully by next week we will be back to normal.

I can't remember every shot, but I worked out that through the green we used my shot at least 34 out of 44 times (17 out of 18 tee shots). I hit 9/13 fairways and 9 greens.
Those sort of numbers tell me that I definitely would have played under my own handicap. The secret to good golf must be alcohol.

Worst feeling in golf. Especially if they came on shot holes. That's a 39 that got away.
And people ask me why I drink so much...

Played at Strathfeild today with Trung, MTB & Virge.
Very up and down game, Poor tee shot followed by some pure irons only to see them at least one club too strong.
29 points
not many fairways
don't think I did hit a GIR
Chipping & putting was good got a few good up and Downs.
Next Game Calderwood Tomorrow.

-1 in PAR today which was pretty good considering I was -5 after 10 holes, but 3 under par for my next 5 holes turned that around and if it wasn't for bogey's on the last 3 holes of the day I would've actually played to or better than handicap.
Highlight of course was the back 9 that finished 1 over par but bogeying the last 3 really hurt (especially with 2 of them being par 3's).
Stats
-1 in PAR comp
7/14 fairways
6/18 GIR (not good enough)
31 putts
3/11 U&D
1/2 sandies
31 putts (best in a while - especially no 3 putts)
3 birds
4 pars
8 bogies
3 doubles GRRR
