Reminds me of some of the new greens at Townsville designed by Karrie Webb.

They only run around the 9-9.5 I think you will find. The greens aren’t that bad - as Gaz said, you just have to learn where not to hit it. There are well designed tiers that just push the ball away if you get it wrong. I do think they have made a birdie a lot harder on quite a few of the par 3’s. The par 5 and 4’s on the other hand are a bit less extreme (at least IMHO).

That photo does not do that swale justice. I was told by a member that they are struggling to mow the slope.

We played there yesterday. My first time since the reconstruction started., The pin was a couple of metres behind the slope. I hit my tee shot into it and it rolled back to the front of the green. My second finished 20 feet past. If I had hit it any softer and would have come back to me. I lipped out the par putt back. It would not really be in play on a back pin. The bail out looked to be straight at the bunker, left edge and chip on.

A couple of others in the group flew the slope and finished off the back edge, right of the bunker. It was a 3 putt and a 4 putt each from there for them.

Does anyone know who designed the new greens at Nudgee? We had 3 new greens done last year and some of the swales are fairly big as well.

I was told the Archi is Jame Whilcher, Golf by Design. I gather he worked with Norman in the early days.

It was great when it first opened, I played it 2 years ago and the condition was very poor for what they charged.

whats the current state of play for the main Nudgee course, is it normal, or partly temporary or a mess?

There is a 36 hole QLD seniors event mid August. Not sure if i wanna at play Nudgee or play 2 of the other 1 day events that month at Royal pines and Gailes.

Everyone bangs on about sustainability in golf and yet designs like this kept being built because it's more 'challenging'. Hope the club have factored in the extra maintenance costs for those bunker edges and surrounds.
And the mayor announced from Thursday on should not be shat into the creek anymore, because on Saturday beer is brewed.
