    Default Week Commencing 11th August 2008

    12/08/2008, Virginia GC, Blue Marker Stroke.

    9/14 effective tee-shots.
    3/18 effective approaches.
    4/7 up and down successes.
    31 putts.
    -----------
    6 pars.
    6 bogeys.
    6 others.

    Score 46-44-90 nett 79 (Par 35-35-70 CCR 72)

    Considering I'm not playing as much as I used to, I was surprised to see my putter on fire on the practice green. I was thinking that I could potentially have a good round.

    Of course, Murphy's Law applies here and I was unable to complete a full swing due to a sprained muscle in the hand thanks to a difficult child from the previous night. So while I hit with pain or tried to invent a swing that avoided it, I sprayed it everywhere for a bogey-triple-bogey-triple-double start. And that was with the putter saving a few shots.

    At this point the muscle had either warmed up, or something was different in my swing, and I was able to hit with a bit more confidence. It was a bit late, but I'm happy with the way I played from then on, with the occasional hiccup. At least the putter kept rolling them in, despite the very difficult pins.

    Next round: Pro-Am at Toowoomba City, Sunday, 31/8.

    Very nice, Coffs. Thats the best score I can recall you posting on here.

    My next 41 points is a long way off judging by todays game at Rosnay. 28 points on an easy course is an awful score. I hit the ball OK, but my short game was appalling. I think a new putter may be part of my immediate future.

    Fairways = 6 of 10
    Greens in reg = 7 of 18
    Putts = 37, zero birdies, 3 threeputts
    Up&Down = 2 of 9
    4 penalty shots

    4bbb at Cairns today. Played as the "swinger" in my group, so two chances to appear on rubbish scorecards

    37 points and 41 points of which I would have been good for about 30 points if I was lucky

    Another very frustrating game for 35 points today. Twice in the last four holes the ball hit the lip and trickled back into a bunker, and both times I took four to get down. One nine was cored and sanded, the other nine wasn't. I putted better on the sanded greens. I'm going to have a rest for a couple of weeks (unless 3oneday wants to play our match).

    Fairways = 10 of 14
    Greens in reg = 8 of 18
    Putts = 34, one birdie, one 3putt
    Up&Down = 1 of 3
    Sand Saves = 1 of 5

    Same 4BBB as Haysey. My partner & I were rubbish on the first (back) nine, and would have been lucky to get 18 pts. Something twigged at the break though, and we both went around the 2nd nine at 2 over off the beater. I never saw the card or asked what we got, but I reckon it would be low 40s.

    This'll only mean something to Haysey & Mike, but I let some anger out on the 2nd and drove it to 5m short of the green. Made the birdie, too!

    Into the wind too.... I can feel an injury coming on between now and next weekend (nicely done for the front nine by the way)

    What a difference a couple of days makes in golf - On Tuesday at Virginia I had an absolute shocker - nothing felt right or was even remotely well struck................played a 4bbb stroke today and my partner and I just had it [mostly] all going right - wasn't even a case of us taking turns to play a good hole each - we were both scoring about the same each time - we won the comp with a 14 under par 57 - by my own tally I played about 7 under my own h/cap based on a stroke round..............hoping I lose a couple more off the handicap....

    well guys after a weeks break and some serious soul searching my sat morn comp play was 23 strokes better than last time, still not my best golf but at least the hadicapper will have a decent look at this round and get the jist off it, couple of pars couple of birdies, but will be on the hunt for a better 5wood and 3 wood than what i currently have cause i think that nambour definitly needs those two clubs in the bag.

    2nd round club champs - Nudgee North

    88/76 (Par 72)

    Not entirely unhappy with the end result considering i had used my handicap up after 10 holes.

    I always play comp on the north course...... fridays and sundays....

    It was freaking slow today... had to wait on every shot, two groups waiting on the 3rd and 9th. Pete teed off at the same time on 10 and was finished about 45 mins before me.

    Played in a 2-ball ambrose today for a corporate day I helped organise. It was a long day. I was at the club before 6am to get things organised and register everybody as they arrived. No time for chipping or putting as it was a shotgun start, so I raced straight from the starters box to the 10th tee. We started with a regulation par, then used all my shots to go birdie, eagle, birdie (social tees) but then had pretty much all pars from there on in. 69 gross for 60 nett, a big box full of prizes, and a couple of trophies with my name on them.
