    Default Electric Buggy advice

I have just started getting back into golf after several back issues and also the kids are now old enough that more frequent weekend golf is now possible, and WFH allows for a sneaky 9 holes after work once a week.

I have just rejoined Carbrook GC, and I can manage pushing a buggy for 9 holes but 18 is a stretch ATM, so normally I would use a cart for 18 holes.
As I play more I hoping things will improve but am looking at an electric buggy to help out.

I have had a look at all the brands mentioned in previous threads and have been looking at MGI, Motocaddy, Powakaddy, Kingcaddy and Alphard.

The Alphard V2 looks like it will fit my current buggy and has more features than I need, but it uses a remote only, features like turning won’t be ideal with my flip n go buggy with dual fixed front wheels, and only has a 1 year warranty.

Kingcaddy looks good, good price, 2 year Frame Warranty and a Lifetime Warranty on the controller (include 2 years on battery and motor), Australian company with lots of spare parts, suspension, all accessories are included, good storage, doesn’t look super compact, no brake and will freewheel down a hill.

MGI, Motocaddy and Powakaddy all look fairly similar, similar warranty, all seem to be very compact, don’t come with any accessories, very poor storage, base models don’t have a brake or DHC which add about $350plus

Note - I am not really interested in a remote controlled buggy, and that is even before I started reading all the horror stories and seeing the photos.
    - Yes I have read through all the other threads, but they didn’t cover all my questions, or were quite old.

    Questions

1 - How important is a brake on an electric buggy, and DHC I guess as they seem to come together. Carbrook is fairly flat but I do use the brake sometimes, and play other courses with my work social club.
2 - Swivel front wheel or not for a non remote buggy
3 - Best brand, most threads talk about MGI, but also mention terrible support and warranty.
4 - What accessories are required/useful, I don’t currently use a seat, but seems almost essential on some of these buggies for storage.

I have the Alphard V2 paired with my 16 year old Clicgear 1.0 and the Alphard front swivel dual wheel kit, couldn't be happier.

Swivel front wheel is not necessary if it’s not remote controlled.

    1. Not a necessity from my experience with non remote buggies when visiting other clubs. The only place found to be worthwhile is that sh!t hole National Old. The slopes there probably could do with DHC buggies.

    2. Not required if not remote.

    3. I love my MGI, just had it repaired under warranty. Their Comms is somewhat poor but with some patience I have yet to have a real issue with their service, they’re essentially a 1 or 2 man band. That being said of all the remote/non remote buggies I’ve used the non remote MOTOCADDY that I used in SA was the pick. They have the battery low and central which makes the COG more suitable.

    4. Umbrella holder + extender, sand bucket bottle (like one found on golf carts) and I’ve personally found great value in the seat attachment. Mainly as a storage solution but also as a seat.

How long have you had it?
Any issues? like remote interference, random inputs etc.

Although I don't want a remote buggy, for the under $1000 it includes EBS, DHC and Gyro features and is waterproof, and depending on your buggy, would vastly improves the storage issues.
Only downsides for me are it is a remote only buggy (but at a much cheaper buy in since I have a compatible buggy), only has a 1 year warranty, takes up more room than the mainstream models.

Goonie, you would look good one one of these.
    https://golfskatecaddy.com.au/

Local company, halfway between Bne and GC. They specialise in all kinds of scooters and mobility things so its a core business for them. My old mate runs the show there, i think this beast is impressive. I will get one later when i need it

    What model do you have?

I spoke briefly to the Pro at my club yesterday and he said he didn't really think the brake was an issue as the motor resistance would be enough to hold them in place, I just hope he is not thinking of the more expensive models that include an ebrake, as support from kingcaddy said there model will freewheel in the forward direction.

Looks like a cool bit of kit but at this stage I want to keep walking, I need to improve my health and fitness since hurting my back, and can't play my other sport squash until these improve.

The joint’s full of idiot choppers mate, I wouldn’t worry about stinking it up in a comp.

I purchased during Black Friday sales, so got it at $200 off, took a few weeks to arrive, thus far I have played half a dozen rounds with it, including 27holes yesterday, I have had no unexpected issues thus far. Only problem encountered was when accidently pressing two buttons simultaneously on the remote, which stops the cart, easily sorted by turning remote on and off then on again. Sent you a pm with 10% off code.

I don't love my Navigator. I will likely replace it with an Alphard when they get the Omni Carts back in stock.

A mate has been using a QOD for a few years now and is very happy with it.
