I've noticed a lot of recent dodgy sites using 'au', or even 'sydney' in their domain name.

One shuts down, one starts up in its place. People just need to use common sense, which unfortunately tends to disappear when they see a bargain.

Anyone tried them? Pricing on the iron sets looks really good & free shipping. Seems AU based. Too good too be true? Fakes?

Oh yeah, definitely fakes. The latest trend with these sites is to include au somewhere in their name to make it look like they are a local business. This one is actually domained in the US.

As a matter of interest has anybody on the forum purchased gear from one of these sites. Interested to learn the standard of the equipment. From reports, much of it is made by the same establishments or subsidiaries that make the originals.

I think those reports are mostly rubbish Ray, the OEMs wouldn't tolerate it. Though I am sure the odd employee doing a bit of espionage is probably a reality. For starters most of the forged irons forgeries are actually cast. And they make them to look like the originals, not play like them. I haven't bought a forgery (yet) but have seen some. Golf World Brissy outlets all seem to have a fake set of AP2 on display. Close up, the fakes are quite obvious. I haven't played with one to see how they are to hit, but suspect that weights, balance etc will be all over the place.

As a rule, any site that volunteers a way to circumvent customs fees and duties is not legitimate.

What makes you say that? FAQ looks just like any other legit retailer. Q: Is there any Customs Duty I need to pay?A: No, there is no import customs duty on all of our products. We will declare this as a "GIFT" to you, which can help you avoid the Tax. Or not

    And another one.
    Q. How long does the delivery take normally?
    A. It usually takes 4-5 days to Australia and 5-7 days to other countries. Once the parcel sent out, we will keep eyes on the parcel till it is delivered.
    Not within Australia.

Or the fact that the website is domained in the US and uses hotmail and gmail email addresses. Or the odd bit of Engrish to be found through the site.

    GCO Srixon Soft Feel normal price is $17.50/dozen. $17.50 x 6 = $105.

Birdie of the day - 6 dozen for $107.73.

    What am I missing?

I don't think you're missing anything. Their 'Birdie of the day' isn't discounted at all on some of those lines.. I ordered 3 boxes of Z-Star SLs last week, looked at the muti ball prices then (and decided not to buy 6 dozen). The multi ball prices for them in the Birdie of the Day are exactly the same as what they were last week.... bit dodgy to be advertising something as a special when it's not.

I reckon maybe they've had a price drop on the soft feels and updated the single boxes but forgot to update the multi buys.

Like the club I played at yesterday. They had a special on Woodstock bourbon cans. $4 each or 2 for $9.

The barman joked that the extra dollar was for the convenience of not having to walk back and get another one because you were only allowed to buy 1 at a time at the $4 price. Good retort.
