Default Week Commencing 23 June 2008

A day off today after working yesterday and no mates, so I went and played Growling Frog on my own.

44-44=88 and net 2 under for the first time I've laid eyes on the place. Played OK.
    4 x Doubles
    4 x Pars
1 x Birdie on the 18th sinking a long putt from the back edge. I even got a small round of applause from a group watching from the cafe as went past.

30 putts and could have been better. The Marxman is working well on the honeymoon.

And to relate to another thread, I played on my own today and dawdled behind a pair in cart for the front 9 to finish the front in 1:45 or thereabouts. They paused and I powered on with an empty course in front of me for 1:10. I was packing the car 3 hours after I hit off. Does this make me fast?

    Default Riverlands - 25th June

Played Riverlands GC this morning, should not have let my mate from work talk me into it. It is a crap course. Tree Valley is better. At least my golf matched it and was crap also. Short par 67 course. Tried to play safe on holes and still could not find the fairways

    93 Gross
    28 points
    1 Fwy
    3 GIR
    37 putts
    1 birdie
    2 pars
    5 wipes
    2/9 Up & Downs
    0/3 Sand Saves
    4 penalty shots

Hopefully the game at Wallacia will be better tomorrow.

Played Riverside Oaks with 3 guys from work. First round with my new FP's and what a difference.
Played roughly to my handicap in god knows how long and as the good golfers say, left plenty out there.
SOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooo much easier to hit than the old set, better feeling shafts I can just hit with my rthymn.

Thanks Gary for personalising work and the wishon wedges!

    Default Wallacia 26th June

Played at Wallacia this morning in the gale like winds that have hit Sydney today. Was at least 2, maybe 3 club wind. Played like a busted ass again.

    99 Gross
    24 points (5 Wipes )
    6 Fairways
    1 GIR
    33 putts (2x 3 putts)
    2 pars
    1/14 Up & Downs
    0/1 Sand Saves

Not too worried about the up & downs today, it was tough to chip to small greens and keep it on them. They were fast and the wind was blowing the ball all over the place. Had a fair few Up, Up & Downs

Tomorrow: Who knows? not sure I am going to play now.

    played eastwood today.
gee it's been a while since i've done this

    f/way - 8/14
    greens - 12/18
    putts - 26
    bogeys - 2
    doubles - 1
    birdies - 3
    eagles - 1

    a very mixed bag today.
16 points on the front 9 and came home with 4 under, 23 points on the back including an eagle on the par 4 18th. Put my tee shot 30cm from the hole.
putting reall held up well, drained a couple from 25-30 feet.
very happy with the come back and knowing that i can actually do it will give me a lot of confidence in the future.

oh and won the comp too.
    go me

    Default Camden Valley 27th June

Played at Camden Valley this afternoon. Had a shocking front nine. If anything could go bad it did. An example was on the 7th Hole I hit a pretty good tee shot that was half a club short of the green. It hit a pole holding the rope to keep people off the front of the green. The resultant bounce was straight back into the hazard to the left of the green. Turned with 9 points. 4 wipes and a 1 pointer.
Back nine was better but still left a few shots out there around the greens especially. Got to get a more confident chipping stroke, I am very hesitant of hitting it properly.

    Stats

    98 Gross
    28 points (9 front/ 19 Back)
    35 putts (3x 3 putts, 4x 1 putts)
    4 Fairways
    2 GIR
    1/11 Up & Downs
    0/2 Sand Saves
    4 penalties

Stableford at Albury today. Played OK - left myself short-side too often, especially early in the round.

Played the back 9 first for a pitiful 12 points - 2 doubles and 3 bogeys.

Managed 21 points around the front for 33 points, and a pleasant 38 off the stick for the front. Included a couple of lipouts in that, too. One of which was the slowest 360* lipout I have ever seen. No-one in the group could believe it.

    33 points, but improving.

Stroke round, 83 off the stick for a nett 67, lost 0.3 off the h/cap to get down to 15.7. Hoping to get down to 15 next week. First week out with a new 12 degree driver and was very happy with the results. My misses were much more playable. Had 5 GIR on the back 9 for a 39 off the stick. 33 putts and 4/12 U&D's. All in all, a good day. Was playing a match and won that 5&3.

    Nudgee South - Single Stab
    --------------------------
    37 points (20-17)
    7/13 Fairways
    5/18 Greens
    32 Putts

Played pretty solidly. Had a couple of spaz moments but you get that. Good company. Its amazing how much quicker the game goes when you are the first group off.

31 points today, but played better than that. I had a terrible start and then lots of 'almost' shots. Almost a good approach, almost a good chip, almost a good putt. I missed a lot of holeable putts. All up, not too bad a day, apart from the score.

    Fairways = 7 of 14
    Greens in reg = 5 of 18
    Putts = 34, zero birdies, 2 threeputts
    Up&Down = 4 of 8
    Sand Saves = 0 of 2

First card in, woohoo! Lots of work going on at Parkwood - cart paths, bridges. Course is in great condition after fairways recently cored. Nice walk. I also had a shocker to start but finished well.

    27/06/08, Palmerston GC (10-16), Social.

I thought I'd give another course a crack on my way back home. I was assured by the pro that I'd have plenty of time to make my flight playing 9 holes. 3 holes were played in great speed and then it ground to a halt. I persevered for 4 more holes (when I was at a point close to the clubhouse) and got out of there. It wasn't enjoyable waiting several minutes for every shot and you can only do so much chipping around greens.

I was +7 through 7 holes. I was hitting it okay at the start, but started chopping it a bit towards the end.

Next round: Absolutely nothing planned except the OZgolf Champs.

which 9 did you play? I have only played the original 9 its a pretty good layout, but condition was never too good.

I hacked up a storm today. It was a 4BBB stroke and I had everything but golf on my mind. No idea what I shot individually, but my partner & I had 66 (-6). The best score I heard when we finished was 60 (-12)
