Henno, btw, had a home network with printer and hard drives set up in less than 30 mins.

I'd be stuffed if I could ever set up something like that on a frikkin PC.

That's because windows is a pile of poo. The only reason why 30mins is considered amazing is because of the hoops you have to jump through to get things running on a PC. Otherwise 30mins would be the norm.

    Why would the webcam break?

Hypothetically, I don't know maybe something really kinky was going on.

If the webcam broke on the PC it would be from a fatal exception error resulting from a corrupted device driver which would create a hardware conflict and result in a Blue Screen Of Death.

If the webcam broke, you could just buy a webcam, or borrow one from your PC loving mate. Alternatively, you might end up with an entirely new chassis.

If it was a PC, you may find you spend $90 on a new webcam, only to find it was a driver issue

    [Edit: Oops - snap Courty!!]

Either way, just seeing a photo of all those cables makes me sooooo angry!!

Was going to post a pic of a fat guy using a computer naked, but then I remembered the anti-pic thread from the other day.

That was my initial argument with the mate that sent me the pic. I hate cables.

I like the way the mac guy has neatly laid his cables. The mouse cable is a perfect flat circle on the desk. I think Mr Mac needs to get a life!

And what's the thing on the PC tower? Is it a receiver for the wireless keyboard and mouse? That aren't wireless?

Righto, been looking at Macs after my Windows carked it for the 4th time (and I spent $230 on recovering photos that were the only thing to ****ingwell disappear !).

I am thinking I need this:

24" one like in Courtys piccie.
Office for MAC (for the kids)
Printer (HP have a $130 cash back thingo)

Anything else I should get so it is setup right the first time ?

You might want to consider some sort of backup setup to avoid losing anything again.

Yeah, a bus-powered 500gb USB drive can be had for not much more than $100 these days.

You should find that does the trick.

We have only added Office (for free ) and Adobe Creative Suite (for my wife's graphics) and never want for any other programs. The Apple included software is brilliant.

Agreed with the back up hard drive.
