Default The "Hi... I'm a Mac" thread

I've been quite amused by the continuing theme of conversations I've had with a number of OZgolf members in recent times. They all go something like this...

Anonymous OZgolf member: "Hi Courty, can I ask you for some advice?"
Courty: "Sure thing, go for it"
Anonymous OZgolf member: "Before I start, if any word of this gets back to the forum, I'll deny it unconditionally."
Courty: "No problems, what can I help you with?"
Anonymous OZgolf member: "I'm considering getting a Mac..."

...and so on it goes. No word of a lie, I can recall at least 4 conversations which have started the same way.

So next time there is an OZgolf gathering, have a look around, because without doubt, one of the people in the group is a closest Mac admirer/ user.

I just plugged the second monitor to the display out on the back of the iMac. Works like a charm.

I've got my MacBook Pro connected to my old Dell 17" via the mini-DVI port. Very useful for editing 30 page submissions for the Father In Law!

Get yourself a Mac Mini to use as the HTPC. It'll do the job out of the box.

Maybe, but I've already got this PC here, that wouldn't need much to be upgraded if anything...

I think someone has only recently got it to work (with much customisation). However, you can run Windoze natively on all Intel Macs (either boot directly into Windows, or run it under emulation).

Sorry, swore I wouldn't do that.

I'll allow them to do so when they feel comfortable enough to admit what they really are.

BTW the Mac Mini is going end of life - don't know if that'll bring the prices down though.

If you do want to make the mini a media centre, see Endgaget

If you start out depressed everything’s kind of a pleasant surprise.
