Like everything Mac, you plug it in, turn it on and it works. Its just like the old helpdesk joke to the kid, "Tell em to buy a Mac, its a computer for Id..., Mummys and Daddys"

There is plenty of cheaper ways to run backups on any OS, but that TC thingy is pretty functional. Especially as you can hide it in a cupboard somewhere and when crooks pinch your shiney Mac they dont nick the backup as well.

I dont know how it compares to the One Touch portable hard drives though. I am still using the old fashioned backup system.

What's the word on the street with regards to new releases? Is it worth holding out for 3 months or so, or just buy now?

Depends on what you're looking at, Poidda. The iMacs have only just received an incremental upgrade, and the Macbooks not long before that. I doubt either of them will receive an upgrade in the next 3 months.

Cheers. Just going for the 2.4 GHz MacBook so it seems now is as good a time as any to buy.

Except you've missed the salary sacrifice boat.
Macbook or Macbook Pro? If the former, don't get the black one, just upgrade the white. As far as I can tell they charge $150 for the privilege of having black.

Mac Store absolutely chockers again today. Planted the seed for an iMac last night... just have to wait for it to blossom. The kicker is that it's all-in-one - no nasty PC boxes sitting on the floor!

Yeah going for the white MacBook as this will keep the Mrs happy. As for the salary sacrifice boat, I was never on it. But the Mrs is a nurse and gets a grant from the government to further her career so this will cover it.

Look at Aperture Poidda, that's the main reason I'm going down this path. Apple have some clips on their site showing how easy it is.
